Last night I went to clean out the air filter on my truck. (83 Ram 50 with G54b 2.6) but its a good 10-12 years old now, and is so stained from oil in the air (valve cover vent and such) that its just black. I let it soak in the K&N cleaner for a good hour and rinsed it out with hot water. Water came out black for a bit then clear, but no real change in the apperance of the filter itself. Any way to clean it out more, or no real need to worry?
