  1. As Tim put it earlier, this car has CHOSEN me. It is destined to find a way back by any means as soon as it leaves my possession. Call it my Christine if you will (although the self repair feature seems to be disabled). I don't see it leaving the family again unless it is just unrepairable. Selling is just no longer an option. The V8 swap has crossed my mind. A 300 hp 87 octane daily driver is a very pleasing thought, but first things first. I will start stripping the engine bay down to the metal and see what all needs replaced. Anyone that has seen my garage knows the options run the gambit from g54b to 4g63/64 to SBC. My brother has even mentioned a Caddy 472 swap (don't know how we would pull that off) from a motor he has. Bottom line it is just going to take me getting off my keister, and getting it done. I have a preliminary goal of making it ready for Branson next year. Whether that happens or not.....we will see. JR
  2. As some of you know, I recently sold the first quest I ever owned, better known here as the Mule. Purchased in 2002, the car had over 200k on the original bottom end, and was daily driven for the first 3 years I had it, with little issue. It was super reliable and I put better than 40k miles on it, frequently driving 80-100 miles a day for work at times. The car made at least 3 Texas meets, and was the test "mule" for most of the parts that I offer. It had been parked for much of the past year while I debated on refreshing the motor. It still had enough power to slip the stock clutch set-up, and burn off the rear 255s, but its age was beginning to show. http://usera.ImageCave.com/jolyrgr/SQ-stuff/09232008122.jpg.jpg I had the opportunity to sell the car for a good deal (again), to an acquaintance, so I jumped on it. A week later, while at the Branson Meet, I received a call that there had been some issues, and would I want to buy it back.... http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/922/img2196a.jpg http://img710.imageshack.us/img710/3528/img2197k.jpg http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/4202/img2198p.jpg http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/3627/img2201d.jpg http://img710.imageshack.us/img710/8411/img2200k.jpg The MSD 2222 FPR that I had used for the past 4 years, apparently sprung a leak. The kid fixed the crack by soldering it closed, test drove it to make sure that it would hold, then went up on the highway. That is when it looks like the repair failed, spraying fuel on hot enough surfaces to ignite, and create what you see above. I prob paid too much to get it back, but I could not let it go for scrap. It provided me with reliable service when I needed it most, and abandonment was not an option. I am not sure which direction to go with it, but i am sure it will be back on the road eventually in one form or another. I have tried to sell this car 3x now, with it always ending up coming back to me. I guess I am just destined to be the final owner of this car, for better or for worse. JR

  10. I can hook you up with a GM style kit when I get back. The later alternators still hook up the same, they just have a different connector. Either get the year connector, or use some female spade connectors to the proper terminal. JR

Also a thanks to Larry and Stari, Phil (Phinko) and wife (sorry I have forgotten your name), and "Scotty" Gibb for all their time spent getting this set up and arranging the giveaways this year. You guys rock. Thanks to SQC and 26liter.us for the webspace to coordinate. Hope to see a good turnout. Should be a lot of fun this year. Not too late to come on down For those that can't, you can catch the action HERE JR
  12. I can get you a set of braided lines in one of 4 colors for about $145. http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=91785&st=0&p=895800&fromsearch=1entry895800 JR
  13. I have worked out a deal with on4now4 and should have some line after the Branson meet. I will have a post up as soon as I have the line in hand. JR
  14. http://www.dune-buggy.com/turbo/fuelsystem.htm IF you are on a budget, this is the way to go. It will work up to 50psi + a 1:1 rising rate with that modification. JR
  15. sorry, work has me super busy.....I will get pics as soon as I can. JR
  16. The shop has agreed to print both color shirts on the same run for no increase in price. State whether you prefer white or gray or both. First post updated. JR
  17. Awesome interview. Thanks for the mention. We could use more positive exposure like this. JR
  18. I sell a bracket kit for the GM style. PM me if interested. JR
  19. Got you down. I have the list updated and I show 20 possibles. 10 more and it can go ahead. I will check with the shop Monday on the possibility of gray and white in the same run. thanks for the responses. JR
  20. maybe I should find some.....driving calluses suck.
  21. I had not considered that. I am sure that a lighter color is a definite possibility. I would still opt for a light gray, as white always seems to attract dirt, stains, etc. Ultimately, whatever the consensus wants, I will have done. JR
  22. I was hoping to use the color shown, or something pretty close. Black would not work but white might be possible. I will have to check on a multiple color run as it would cause them to change inks. Let's just assume gray for the shirt. I will post if any other colors are possible. I believe these to be true to size. The other runs I have done seem to fit as ordered. They are a 50/50 blend, so shrinking should be minimal. JR
  23. UPDATE:I CAN DO A RUN OF BOTH COLORS OF SHIRTS FOR NO INCREASE IN COST. STATE WHETHER YOU WANT THE WHITE OR GRAY T. I mentioned this to Tom (Tman) and he suggested that I post it in the thread with meet list(as I did), but it prob needs it's own thread (or will if the interest is there). While at the screener's shop, I came across a shirt design that he has done for a motorcycle club previously. This was a custom design of the Dragon route with the names of all the different curves. Since I have done several Meet shirts with them in the past, he is willing to give a pretty good deal on the printing of the shirts if those that are going would like to purchase one. I have come up with an event specific front "pocket" design to commemorate the meet. (Watermark will not be printed on the shirt) http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/1354/pf10shirtmock.jpg http://img693.imageshack.us/img693/5021/pf10shirtmockwhite.jpg Costs on these would be about $11-12 plus whatever the shipping arrangement costs if 30-40 shirts are ordered. 2x and 3x would be $2 over that. If they shipped individually, that would be about $3-4/shirt. It is possible that someone could meet me and take the entire lot to the event, and save those charges altogether. I am not looking to make any money off the shirts, so if the costs go down with volume, so does the final price. What I want to know is if this is of any interest to anyone. EDIT:Prices are as follows including shipping and paypal: s-xl.......$14.00 2xl........$15.50 3xl........$17.00 Thanks, JR running total............33 vbrad511..................(2)xl-----white JAinsworth...............(2)xl 1 white/ 1 gray pure_insanity...........(1) mig8788..................(2) conquestTSIguy.......(4) 2 M/2 xl white slowquest................(2)xxl gray couth'nize................(2) 1 M white/1 L gray tim si........................(2)xl 1 white/1 gray cokedoctor...............(1)L gray Tman.......................(2) 1s / 1xxl white IntercooledFlatty.....(2)xl white PDodson.................(1)xl white Scotty&Colin...........(2) 1xxxl/1 xl grey Logikfive.................(1)l white Nomad....................(2) 1L white/ 1 xl gray csdisme..................(1)3xl gray Ken_B.....................(2) 1 xxxl white/1 xxxl gray 87quest-TSI............(2) L gray EDIT: The gray shirts will be a lighter, "athletic" gray with the lettering and map in black.
