  1. I've got an 87 computer you can have if you pay shipping. Be about 10 bucks.
  2. As far as fuel pumps go, you can use the stock pump with a Mallory 4309 regulator. I ran a turbocharged Mustang with a Walbro 255 pump with one for years. If you use a N/A mechanical pump, you will have to boost reference it by drilling and epoxying a nipple in the air bleed hole and running a vac. hose to the carb hat.
  3. If you find a carb intake from a mighty max, you can use adapters to get the holley to fit, but it will restrict the airflow due to the size of the original mikuni carb. You would have to go from mikuni to weber adapter and then weber to holley adapter. I'm in the process of converting my '86 to carb and am using a 350 cfm Holley two barrel. I used a hole saw to open up the intake (mighty max) and the first adapter. The adapters can be found on ebay. Using the stock quest intake would require some major reworking with welding. You should be OK with the 500 cfm carb. Like ucw458 said, the stock timing stuff will get you by. Also, you will need a short carb hat, or with the two adapters and carb, the hood won't close.
  4. Wouldn't a throttle body to intake gasket cause that?
  5. 351 IMO would be a better choice just because of the oil pan situation. It's expensive to convert a chevy to front sump. Both can handle a lot of hp.
  6. If you plan on making some serious horsepower later, ditch the 302 and go with a 351. Much stronger. Check out this guy's build. http://www.theturboforums.com/threads/358359-1980-Notch-351-S480-8-11-13-9-73-140

  8. I bought Eric's Quest back in January and he hasn't been on the site since. I have his number and you may be able to get some info from him. Shoot me a PM if you want it.
  9. Mostly complete 87 in the yard in Shelby, NC if anyone is near there and interested. It's mostly complete except head and exhaust/turbo. Windshield is broken and front bumper/airdam/header and hood are shot. White with red leather interior. It's a 5 speed.
  10. I'm interested. PM'ed you.
  11. I'm in the process of "restoring" an '86 Conquest and during my free time when I'm waiting on parts and such, I've been playing around with designing a digital instrument panel. I've gotten most of the electronics worked out, and added some really cool features such as an SD card slot with data logging and voice like the early etacs. My problem is I'm not the most artistic person and am having trouble with coming up with an aesthetic design. I want to use at least two neopixel rings, one for speedo and one for tach. These are rings of RGB leds that are programmable with an arduino that can be used for a sweep function. They come in several different sizes which make them perfect for gauges. I will also be using 7 segment displays inside the rings, just to keep the 80's feel. I can get these in red, green, yellow and blue. My gauge requirements are speed, tach, oil pressure, voltage, water temp, boost and O2. So, my question is, if you could design your own digital panel, what would it look like?

  13. I don't know about where you guys live, but in the day when these things were new, I never saw one in my neck of the woods. Had I not gotten to ride in one in '88, I'm sure they would be a long lost memory. I don't think I've seen one on the road in the last 15 years and I travel a lot for work.
  14. Man this build is awesome. I love the fact that you are taking the time to keep us updated as well as you have. Keep up the good work!
  15. Engine and trans are still available, sale of the megasquirt is pending.
