  1. So nobody gets confused: taller gear = lower ratio. For instance, a set of gears with 2.78:1 ratio is TALLER than a 3.73:1 ratio. Somebody corroborate this please. ADAM
  2. It is. The supra tranny gives a lower final drive ratio though. higher huh? a higher final drive ratio will turn in better quarter mile times. why you complaining then heef?

  4. I had to hit a few different parts places, but one of the mass chains had them--I just can't remember which one. ADAM
  5. the 18g is $495 for a rebuild/upgrade. with his turbo, you're getting the whole thing. ask FP how much for an 18g without supplying a core.
  6. Get out your voltmeter and make sure you're getting +12v to the remote turn on lead. If you lose power to the remote wire then the amp will shut off. Where did you ground the amp?
  7. Was there a reason you didn't use a harness adapter? There has to be a grounding problem somewhere. ADAM
  8. I dunno. I call them wheels. Typically it's the younger generation that calls them 'rims' because that's what their ricer buddies call them.
  9. [hijack]3db is not TWICE AS LOUD. It is a "noticable difference." Typically, most refer to 10db as twice as loud, but this is somewhat subjective. It is usually anywhere from +6db to +10db that quantifies twice as loud. Twice the power, or in some instances, twice the cone area of the speaker, is necessary for +3db. It's been a while, but car audio used to put food on my table.[/hijack] ADAM
  10. 5.0 chevy engine is a 305. The block dimensions are the same as all SBCs. I don't think there's any way you could make a BBC fit, at least not with any sort of steering box.
  11. THE shiat!!!! I dont know whats wrong with me today, lol this is like the 3rd or 4th mistake I've made today. Should be read Kenwood EXCELON is the shiat. Regular kenwood stuff is mehh, run of the mill.
  12. Jensen J/K man. Whatever works for ya! While you got the fiberglass out, why not build some kick panels? I've built them for my last two vehicles and they sound SO much better than in the doors. They're gonna be tough to do on my grand cherokee though. :? ADAM
  13. Josh, Obviously I can't be there for PF, but I'll gladly take a power steering high pressure line if you've got a good one. I can send $$ now if you want. I should be home sometime in August. No hurries on this one. PM me with a price shipped to 42262. Thanks! ADAM
  14. I don't have a map in front of me for a 19c, but I'm willing to bet that it's out of its efficiency range at 28psi. ADAM
  15. put the dollars into 1) preventative maintenance, you'll need it 2) go fast goodies

  17. I did once, but won't again. Sparks + fumes = ugly. Just ask freebird. Buy yourself a cheap set of tin snips for $15 at harbor freight. ADAM
  18. I only pulled one gas tank. The next two cars this is exactly what I did. Much easier and faster! ADAM
  19. Just buy new ones and clean the contacts as good as you can. Fusible links are similar to a slow blow type fuse. Some have replaced them with a fuse block, but I do not recommend it. You will have to use a fuse with a higher capacity for a block and then you run the risk of damaging your electrical system if there's ever a problem. ADAM
  20. HAT TRICK! If you're using the stock alt then definately use a farad cap. Basically, they are a big capacitor that store energy until needed. During a bass note when the amps are drawing a lot of current it will first pull it out of the cap before drawing from the alternator/battery. It's good insurance--just make sure you don't buy a cheap flea market one. They don't work.
  21. Also make sure to use a fuse block instead of a distro block if the amps aren't fused them selves. I like to use a 150 amp circuit breaker up front instead of the big plate fuses. It's a lot cheaper and easier than replacing fuses if something would happen. ADAM
  22. I wouldn't recommend using the remote turn on for both amps, at least not straight from the head unit. The amps still draw a little current from the remote wire even when they're on. I recommend using the remote wire from the head unit to trigger a simple $2 bosch relay that get's its feed from the power distribution block for the amps. I've seen remote outputs fry from them being used on multiple amps. Don't say I didn't warn you. ADAM
