  1. Sorry to see stuff like this Shelby. Like many others, you've helped me out for years and years. I wish nothing but the best for you.
  2. Glad it's not that bad and your ok. Deer suck. I've hit 6 in my driving career, two at once one time, and two have ran into me! I don't hunt, but have bagged my share. Lol
  3. The frame rails are not parallel. Not sure about the stock engine, but the passenger rail is inboard compared to the driver side. No idea why they did this, but was a nightmare to get things right. There are marks on the back of the fire wall and front of the engine bay that show center. (bolt holes and some other points of reference. Set up some strings and you'll see how weird it really is. The diff is centered but the tourqe tube is not. This also helps with driveshaft angle. If you gunsight the tunnel you'll see it favors the passenger side.
  4. Really like the storage area. I just painted everything and put the extra floor mats where the seat used to be.
  5. Been thrashing. Rebuilt entire steering column (lenghtened) for better wheel position. All new suede for the entire interior, got proper automotive suede that won't fade as easily, installed power steering cooler, new horn, and slowing polishing all aluminum parts on the entire car...(taking forever!) Japanese Classic Car Show this weekend, got to get my hustle on.
  6. I'll help you out with that clean flatty!
  7. Would def be the right time to do it.
  8. It wouldn't take long at all to get it out. Problem is, if I'm going to go through the trouble of pulling the motor, I need to do a clutch, the trans needs some work, I might as well do a cam, then bearings, if I do that I should just rods, pistons, machining etc. I'm not one to do stuff half as s, I like to get to the bottom, then start over. Plus the whole brake system needs to come out... Its not impossible, but I dont want to be scrambling and waiting for machine shops, etc and AGAIN have no test time before the race. Either way its defiantly coming out after. Now that I have a place to work.
  9. yeah yeah I know..lol...but I'm trying to keep it NA. Don't want the heat or the weight of boost. Reliability is key right now.
  10. Thanks guys! I'm in full thrash mode right now. Car is completely torn apart, re-doing the whole interior (all new suede) re mounting my steering column for a better position...also picked up some z06 heads yesterday currently at the machine shop getting built... TONS to do, but we'll get there. Kinda at a crossroad now...I need to pull the engine to change the heads...really dont want to..but really need more power... decisions decisions...lol
  11. I burried my car once when it was close to stock just more boost. Since everything I've done its only been to around 160 (gps based) but TONS left in the car..not so much for me. lol
  12. Happy birthday my man. Enjoy the whole year!
  13. Haha That I will be doing as soon as everything gets setup. I know, its hilarious, every time I try to take a picture of the car, he deliberately jumps in front of the camera. This place is def big enough for me to make some magic. Its the same size as my old place in Detroit... building my work bench setup pretty much the same. It worked well before.
  14. You guys and your fancey garages.... I envy all of you, but I couldn't be happier for this place. Finally got a garage to work on my super car! http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/IMAG3414_zpsdpqj3ti1.jpg
  15. Go back to a stock tank. I wish I hadnt gone to a cell. Its been a royal PIA ever since. However, if your going to keep it like that its not safe. Make proper straps and get your lines right. I built this cover for mine that screws down with a gasket around the lid to keep all fumes ect. out of the cabin. Use grommets where you go through the metal, it will cut the lines eventually. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/Mobile%20Uploads/IMAG2039_zpsfc99d3ad.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/lid_zpsf69a87d4.jpg
  16. BS bro. Pimp out your girl and build a garage.
  17. Haha, yeah the wife wasn't feeling it. She got scared from the first lap with all the traffic. It is a bit crazy I must admit. Its been a while since shes been in the car with me at speed. Just plain driving here is crazy, like no big deal to do 100 on the highway all the time. I absolultly love this place.
  18. Finally achieved a life long goal of being able to run laps around the Nurburgring! My wife and I are currently on our much delayed honeymood in Europe. She has extended family that lives in Prum, a small village about 40min from the ring. Like any normal car guy would do, I rented a race prepped Suzuki Swift from rent4ring.com. They offer a bunch of great cars, but as you go up in power, so does the price. What worried me the most was the cost of crashing. Since its known as the "Green Hell" its not something to be taken lightly. Unfortunately I only got 3 laps in (was planning for 6) some dude in a vw golf lost it, jumped a curb cutting a hole in his oil pan.. then decided to get back on the track spilling oil everywhere. Seconds later 3 motorcycles crashed because of this, and they closed the track for the rest of the day.. It is absolutely insane that they allow bikes and cars on at the same time. My wife was filming on my second lap, she had to sit out on the third lap...something about being scared??? Idk ...lol I was just getting comfortable with the car when they shut it down. All in all, great experience, and I MUST go back. Enjoy the video!
  19. Fuze: I thought about doing the lexan windows, but want to keep it more streetcar and stick with glass. I will also lose points for stuff like that int he show portion of these events. I have some video from laguna, usually by the time I start running fast lap times is when all the go pros are dead. lol. idk whats up with my laptop, its junk and I need a new one. lol Shelby: Thanks so much for our kind reply. I cant believe 15 years ago I was talking to you on instant messenger asking you why my car was running like crap...lol The car and I have evolved a bit since then. Its true, watching guys that have over 100k easy into their car get stomped by my garage built beater gives me tons of satisfaction. Unfortunately I'm getting close to the point of needing a big money motor if I want to take the car to the next level. I'm going to do what I can with the money I have for the next big race and see what happens. Either way SEMA is going to be a blast. I know now what it takes to win, if I don't get there this year, it will be next for sure.
