Burton
It's not really parts, but I'm for sale LOL. Need to make some loot to get this shop finished up, and I got spare time on my hands so I'm looking to take on some work. -Antenna delete- $75 http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10087/stereo_019.jpg -Rear wiper delete- $100 (pic also shows antenna delete) http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10087/1258744059_5d0861d773.jpg -Shaved license plate lights on plate trim piece- $75- includes new LED plate lights wired to stock plug. Comes in satin black (like stock) or primer http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10087/5-18-09_003.jpg -Header panel mods- $150 on up depending on intricacy of design http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10087/87%20quest2%20039.jpg http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10087/header-grille_001.jpg -Smoothed rear bumper step- $200 http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10087/stereo_016.jpg -Shaved rear bumper step- $250 http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10087/8-18-07_(14).jpg -Larger IC opening on front bumper (no airdam)- $250 -Larger IC opening and molded in airdam- $350 on up depending on if there is any damage to the airdam http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10087/DSCF0028~7.JPG http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10087/1258742191_205b6d5ceb.jpg Prices are based on you supplying the parts and being responsible for shipping. The larger, heavier parts like the bumpers, will not be cheap to ship- at least on the way back when I will insist on going above and beyond in packaging it to be sure it is safe from damage. For the bumper mods, I also require that the bumpers come assembled with the support included, as the covers need the supports to maintain straight bodywork. Prices include all materials and labor, but prices listed are for the parts to be finished out in primer only, unless otherwise noted. I can paint the parts as well for an extra fee- about $50 for the small parts on up to $100+ for larger parts like bumpers. Sadly, due to the fact that materials make up a majority of these prices, I require full payment when you send your part. I'm also looking to take on paint jobs. I have a temporary booth I am setting up to use while the shop is being built. It's not perfect, but it should be at least as good as the one I had set up in my garage in MI. Now, I can do about anything from scuff and shoots up to really slicking it out for a show shine. Every car is different, so it's had to have "set pricing" for something like this. I will, however, give you an idea as best I can... -If you've got a car with minor dings and faded or mismatched paint, but the paint hasn't failed (i.e. flaking off, cracking, clouding, etc...), it can get a simple scuff and shoot. Something like that I can do for about $1000. You're probably thinking "I can go to maaco and get it done for $300". That's true, you can, but they won't do any of the ding fixing or extra prep work- they paint right over scratches and dings. They also use very cheap paints and many times only single stage paint. All of my paint jobs are basecoat/clearcoat, and are done with the care of a fellow SQ enthusiast. I have yet to see a Maaco job that can come close to matching what I can do- Not trying to bragg, just saying that I don't do $300 paint jobs. If my name is going to be on it, it's gonna be up to my standards. Any dust nibs and such will be spot sanded and polished as necessary, but no major wetsanding and polishing is included in this price. -Maybe your car is a little rougher. Maybe it's got flaking paint, a messed up airdam and big ol' dents. In this case, I'll metalwork out the big dents and fill them and any other small dings. Panels with failing paint will get stripped and bodyworked as necessary. Those repair areas will get filler primed, blocked smooth, filler primed again and wetsanded to perfection. From there the entire car will be sealer primed and painted with basecoat/clearcoat. After curing, it will receive a general wetsanding and polishing which will give you an OEM finish or better. Something like this, I can do for about $2k. -Maybe you're looking to have yourself a car that's going to be seeing some shows. For that you want it to be super smooth and super straight. All bodywork will be done, and the entire car will be blocked with 180 grit. From there, the entire car will be filler primed and blocked with 180 again. After another couple coats of surface primer, it will be block wetsanded, sealed, and sprayed with basecoat/clearcoat. I will then wetsand the entire car after curing and apply 2 more coats of clear. After that's cured, I will wetsand and polish to a smooth as glass shine. The car will end up with a straighter body than stock, as well as a FAR better than OEM finish with killer depth. Something like this would be $3k+. I know that sounds like a ton of cash, but honestly, I should probably charge closer to $4k. This is pretty much a full, body-on, paint restoration. At the hot rod shop I used to work at, something like this would cost $11-15k. For this sort of job, I would likely actually rent an honest to goodness paint booth. I have a connection for one if I need to. Prices listed above are including labor and materials. For primers and paints I would be using some good quality, yet fairly inexpensive paint brands, Like NAPA Crossfire, Sherwin Williams, Nason, Matrix, etc... If you want the higher dollar, super high quality paints like House of Kolors, DuPont, and PPG, the material cost would be higher, and therefore the job would cost more. For all paint jobs, I require 50% up front, because that's about the cost of materials. The rest is due upon completion The car needs to be at least driveable around my yard. Let me know what you got and we'll see what we can work out. Here's a link to an online body manual I have started. You can scroll down to the links to the chapters to see the various steps and processes I use. There's also some info on my background..... http://www.26liter.us/forum/index.php/topic,1604.0.html Thanks! Burton
You just HAD to move to friggin Texas, didn't you......grrr.. Yep, and since I've been here, I've been working at a hot rod shop doing frame off restorations and $20,000 custom paint jobs. My work now makes the stuff that came out of my garage in MI look like backyard ghetto work. Sorry, that's probably not helping your frustration, is it? Gencha
Well I'm a painter myself and even though I only have a couple of years behind my back I can assure you that the prices listed are WAAAYYY lower than what any respected shop would charge for the quality described. And no MAACO is not a shop (the only thing they can paint is taxi cabs). You'd be better off spray-painting your car in your backyard. I dont mean to sound like I am promoting something here as I don't even know the guy but judging by the pictures I would definately let him work on my car. Anyway good luck with everything and I might be sending you out some bumpers this summer!

Burton
Its too bad your so far away, my blue 88 is at the stage its ready for some paint lovin. mm That's no excuse LOL. At my prices, you can ship the car back and forth, pay me, and still pay less than you would at a body shop. Granted, not much less, but then you know that the guy who is doing the work is doing it with SQ love and not half assing stuff. You also know you will have somebody who stands behind their work. To the top. I'm glad to see that I'm getting some interest in this stuff. However, most of it is little stuff like antenna deletes, grille work, and such. I'd really love to see some full repaints, though. 5 full repaints would pay for my concrete slab, and that would come close to getting the shop finished. Maybe y'all are concerned that I won't be able to lay paint well once the temporary booth is up? http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10087/4-15-09_001.jpg http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10087/4-15-09_003.jpg http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10087/4-15-09_002.jpg That was sprayed OUTSIDE, with NO booth and during 10-15 MPH wind gusts. Suprisingly, There wasn't too much trash in it. There was a few dust nibs and two bugs that decided to swim around in the wet clear before they died. All those flaws are easily handled with a little wetsanding and polishing. Imagine what I can do in a controlled painting environment, even if it is "temporary". Let me know, we can make a deal. Big Al
If I had another daily driver, I'd drop mine off and let you give it a good workover. Burton
For those of you saying you're too far away, I can help with that. I have another SQ owner who can help haul cars across the country and get them to me safely, at a fair price and with the love of a fellow SQ owner. You have no excuse now except money. The economy is bad now, but I'm also doing things for half or less what body shops charge, so if anything by having me do it you're saving money. And what's better in these tough economic times than saving money! Anyway, these prices may not be what they are forever. This is where I'm starting out, but once things pick up, my prices will go up along with the demand. A couple years from now, I may be charging body shop prices. Put those tax returns and stimulus checks to good use!
RWDAddict
Just sent you a PM about a full restoration. Burton
OK, looks like I have a BIG resto coming up. In the meantime, I still can do some parts/pieces for y'all.
