D_Venable
Also, I ordered a set of actual mounting plates for this one bag, so I should have those this week at some point. I can use this one set as a template, hehe, if I so choose, and make the other mounts myself, there's a local metal supplier I can get a 2 foot square of 1/4" steel plate for less than $
D_Venable
those mounting plates came a couple days ago, just haven't gotten around to putting the pics up I'm not sure if I'm gonna just weld these plates straight to the housing, or have them sit on the perch rings (with a dom tube to take up the spacing) so I could switch back to coilovers if I so desired. BUT this is where they will sit http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P7230148.jpg http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P7230149.jpg http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P7230150.jpg http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P7230151.jpg This is with the bearing and washer that was supplied in the bracket kit, but I WILL NOT be using their bearing, it's CHEAP. There is no carriage or holder to spacer the ball bearings in it out, so they clank around a little. Something I just don't trust. Thanks to Dave (ElkidminoLTU) for the heads up on that bit though, since he has the same bags on his car next pics also have the bag extended, with 80 psi in it http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P7230152.jpg http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P7230153.jpg http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P7230154.jpg Derek

D_Venable
OK, LONG OVERDUE update, lol After seeing more pics of how low Komeuppance had his car, I got inspired to work on mine again, so I went out and finish welding the front struts together (they were just tacked) ground a groove along the seem, then filled it back in with weld material... http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1190231.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1190230.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1190228.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1190226.jpg I'll probably do the rears tomorrow night. HELL, if it takes longer to get my Durban out here, I may just airbag the flatty, hehe

D_Venable
OK, got one of the 2 rears done tonight (Flatty didn't get neglected though, Andrew did more patchwork on the floorboards) http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1200235.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1200234.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1200233.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1200232.jpg I used one of the sections of the cutout from the rear struts (2" section) and split it in half, and hammered it open on the floor, to fit over the body of the strut Hopefully I'll get the other rear done tomorrow night, if I remember to grab the tank, I'm out of Argon/CO2 gas P.S. I'm half tempted to go ahead and use these rear struts on the flatty, if I can get the stockers off it. And then mod the flatty fronts for the MR2, and just order a set of cosmo's for it. then mod the flatty's rear to use on my Durban. HMMM the possibilities Edited January 21, 2010 by D_Venable

D_Venable
Lincoln Electric SP-100T 115v Bought a tank with it, and use a 75% Argon / 25% CO2 gas Cart and auto-darkening helmet is from Harbor Freight, lol came away for just over $800 with the filled tank, cart, helmet, welder, extra 11lb spool of wire, and a couple magnets. tank refills on this 40 cu ft tank are just under $40 after tax at the local welding/gas place http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1090180.jpg Edited January 21, 2010 by D_Venable
Komeuppance
The flatty struts I've seen don't have the same type of gland nuts... but I bet the thread pitch is the same. The rears might even be threaded as well on flatties. -Robert
D_Venable
yeah, I'll have a go at removing the Flattie's rear struts over the weekend, I've gotta get under there anyway, at least the pass. side half shaft needs rebuilt

D_Venable
Not on the airbag setup, but I've been working on the setup with Cosmo's on the flatty http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P2200344.jpg http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P2210366.jpg http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P2210359.jpg http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P2210362.jpg http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P2210363.jpg http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P2210357.jpg I've pulled a lot of camber out of the front since those pics though with the smaller angle on the flatty front struts, even a +10 offset wheel it TIGHT to the strut with the MR2 conversion http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P2200353.jpg I've got the 5/8" spacers, but the recess' are't big enough for them to work on these wheels, so I'm considering getting 25mm spacers up front, otherwise under hard cornering the tire will rub the collar/spring
SFBMX88
Nice! Have you though about swapping in widebody front suspension? You do get much more room in there, plus it would be much easier to find replacement parts if anything got bent....seems like most flatties get no love and go straight to the crusher.. smallblock12
do it up! thats gonna be one sikk flatty
D_Venable
widebody front suspension will probably never happen to THIS car, this car was on it's way to the crusher when I grabbed it, it's rusted to hell as well. So once I'm done with it in a few years (hopefuly more than 5) this car will get pulled apart, and pieces put into something else (hopefully a cleaner bodied flatty) , or transferred to my Durban (if I haven't duplicated said part by then) in the meantime, I don't plan to do anything else to the suspension unless it breaks something, or is undriveable. I just want a slammed beater for year round daily driver status, and have the ZR2 as backup, or trade it in for something better and newer.
