Work well. I did have to modify the brace and latch attachment for the glove box. If you want to do something like this, let me know.I should have a bunch of pictures somewhere. John86TSi
I have been working on two different models of cup holders. Give me another week or so to finish up and take some pics. I think they are the best use of interior space that I have seen, with one being very reasonable to make and the other being somewhat more expensive because of the components I used. Hit me up then and I will post my versions of the starquest java holders. John86TSi

Alcyone
I have the passenger seat set-up to where a tall can (energy drink not beer) or a 20 oz fits between the leg rest and the center console works every time!
Richie_Rich
I have the passenger seat set-up to where a tall can (energy drink not beer) or a 20 oz fits between the leg rest and the center console works every time!I used to do that too.The problem came when someone would sit in the passenger seat.I had one person hit the cup with their hand, knock the thing over onto the floor.I think that was when I decided to take a jigsaw to my dash I've seen some pretty neat ones you can screw to the door panel that fold into a thin box. They look good. I just didn't want something on my door.

DzNutz
I put my coffee cup on the hump between the center consol and rear seat between the backs of the front seats ( yes, it is a BIG cup)
Fuzzydicerule
my friend got one that uses three suction cups on the windshield, about halfway in between the console and the passenger seat, wedged against the glass, cant hold big things but works awesome with bottles and cans

averse
I put in a cup holder under the aftermarket radio, where the Graphic Equilizer used to be I think. I bought one at Autozone (pic 1) and bought a couple of L brackets at the hardware store and used them to attach the holder (pic 2). I then used model paint to make the brackets black and blend in better. It works okay, although the size of the holder fits 20 oz soda bottles tighter than I wish. I should have checked that out before installing, I guess! http://members.cox.net/averse/cupholder1.jpg http://members.cox.net/averse/cupholder2.jpg http://members.cox.net/averse/cupholder3.jpg BTW, no interference with shifting, leg room, etc... Nice and out of the way!

John86TSi
I did finish the cup holders that I had talked about in this thread. I started a new thread later on that detailed them. Here it is... http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.p...;hl=cup+holders I recently got the 86 back on the road, it is a 5 speed. The pics were taken in my 88 with an auto. The shifter goes underneath the aluminum mount ok, I normally grip the shifter low anyway. If you had a hold of the shifter way high you would hit your knuckles on the edge of the plate. Otherwise, I use a large 7-11 cup for my coffee, and an extra short thermos for an extra couple cups of coffee. Both fit great in the cup holders that flip up to work. I think they look great, I don't smoke so the ashtray is useless for me anyways. The next one I make I am gonna shift it about 1/2" to the right so I can see the readout for the stock radio just a little better. In any event, it would still not block either air conditioning vent in the center dash area. John86TSi
