  1. WOW! If this is gonna happen on Oct. 3, 4, and 5th my wife and I might be able to stop by on the way back from Atlanta to Richmond. It would probably be that Friday, the third. I doubt that we would stay overnight but could meet and mingle for several hours and then head up the road. I probably won't be driving the quest as my wife has had some major surgery on her foot. As the days get closer I will let ya'll know if this is doable on our part!! John86TSi
  2. The Izusu Rodeos and Honda Passports 93 or so also used the exact same mechanism to raise their sunroof. Their actual sunroof glass is a bit bigger than ours, but those plastic mechanical parts will work in ours. Just hit the junkyards and they will work. I actually purchased a new mechanism from Izusu (they only have one parts place left in our large metropolitan area!) and it was about $53.00 from what I can remember. I had posted the part number earlier this year or late last year for it. John86TSi
  3. I was in the US Navy for eight years as an Aviation Electrician, and got out as a First Class (E-6). I was in from 1971 to 1979, and was stationed at NAS Oceana (Virginia Beach), Virginia for training and then with Attack Squadron 34 (A-6 jets, the nick of the squadron was the "Blue Blasters") till 1975, and made two MED cruises on the USS John F. Kennedy. If you want to see the very best squadron patch there ever was, get on eBay and search for either VA-34 or Blue Blasters and take a look at it!!!!). I was on shore duty at NAS Oceana till late 78, and then joined VA-75 (A-6 jets, nick -- Sunday Punchers) onboard the USS Saratoga for my third Med cruise. I have an interesting story about my last cruise. My father died at about the half way point of the cruise, and we were pulling into Naples, Italy the next day. While onboard the ship, I was actually attached away from the squadron with the ship as I worked on the Inertial Navigation black boxes that were installed on the A-6 and F-14 aircraft. The officer in my squadron that brought me the Red Cross telegram message that my father had passed was Michael Smith. He arranged for my transfer the next day and my flight back and forth to the states. After the cruise, I got out of the Navy and lived in Virginia Beach for several years. One day, not long after I had left the Navy, at a True Value hardware store in Princess Anne Plaza I met Michael Smith and his wife shopping, and we stopped and talked. At that time he told me that he had been accepted to be an astronaut at Houston. I congratulated the both of them, and went on my way. Several years later, while working for the Army at a cal lab our customers that day were telling us that the shuttle had blown up during lift off, so one of the active duty soldiers that lived on base went and got a portable tv and brought it back to work. Imagine my surprise and mixed feelings when Michael Smith's picture flashed on the screen with all the other shuttle astronauts. He was the pilot of Challenger that day, the one that said "Go at throttle up", and from what I have later learned (from people that worked at NASA) also uttered "oh oh" as the very last transmission from the shuttle that day. The other strange thing about that day??? It was my late father's birthday. John86TSi
  4. I do appreciate your helping others on this site get parts, including me if I had been quicker and had known to PM you instead of asking for a reply the other way. However, you didn't even bother to email me and let me know they were gone, and you did not post in here to let others know that they had gone out smokin' fast. I even asked you again for a chance at them, and you let me hang out there -- I wish you had responded to me and let me know. Since I don't have your paypal on my cheat sheet anywhere, I am at a disadvantage in trying to get deals from you. Once again, I appreciate your efforts in offering parts, but next time I will pass and make a deal or two with someone else. I was sincere in my efforts to contact you, and my money is as good as anyone else's on here as far as I am concerned. I think I have a good reputation on this site as far as buying and selling parts go -- I like others to treat me the same way. Thanks again, John86TSi
  5. I did not get an email concerning payment for one of these yet... I know marchair@hotmail.com works. How about sending me a PM and letting me know what I need to do to get the one I asked for??? John86TSi
  6. I will take one too. I already have some new clips. Please send me the particulars on payment, etc. to marchair@hotmail.com Thanks!! John86TSi
  7. Here is a link to a couple of cup holders I made a while back..... http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.p...;hl=cup+holders check them out and let me know what you think. John86TSi
  8. what years starquest does this fit? The newer ones (87-89) or 86? John86TSi
  9. Speaking of the PCV hose as Shelby said, are you using an old PCV valve you had from before the engine rebuild? They are cheap on Dad's site so why don't you try a genuine Mitsu PCV valve to see if the problem is there for idle? For troubleshooting, you could unscrew it and plug the end that screws into the valve cover. Fire the engine up and see how it runs....... BTW, I have an 86 that idles lumpy too. I have changed out quite a few items, still have not smoothed it out like I like it. I am gonna check some of the other things Shelby said in the thread, he's a pretty smart feller!!! John86TSi

    AC orings

That was me being quoted on the o-rings and pricing with Mitsu part numbers. Those are the original o-rings used with R-12. The quantities listed are correct for all the o-rings throughout the entire a/c system and its connections for a 5 speed car. There would be some more o-rings listed if you have an automatic car because of the sub-cooler being used in the a/c system. I have not researched them yet... John86TSi
  11. Do these alternator kits fit a 86 widebody too? I remember when my alternator went bad a few years ago I tried the parts car alternator (it was an 87) but its connector was different. When I got another alternator from advance it had a different part number than the later years. Thanks John86TSi
  12. Hey David! I got some stuff from you before... you are a great seller! I am looking for the "passing relay" for a 86 widebody only. It is different than the 87, 88, 89. It is used for the "flash to pass" feature. It is in the dash to the right of the radio according to the 86 manual. I think the newer models have theirs there too. The newer models also have a companion passing relay in the engine compartment above the vacuum brake booster, which the 86 does not. Please give me a quote to 23140 if you have one. Thanks John86TSi
  13. I did finish the cup holders that I had talked about in this thread. I started a new thread later on that detailed them. Here it is... http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.p...;hl=cup+holders I recently got the 86 back on the road, it is a 5 speed. The pics were taken in my 88 with an auto. The shifter goes underneath the aluminum mount ok, I normally grip the shifter low anyway. If you had a hold of the shifter way high you would hit your knuckles on the edge of the plate. Otherwise, I use a large 7-11 cup for my coffee, and an extra short thermos for an extra couple cups of coffee. Both fit great in the cup holders that flip up to work. I think they look great, I don't smoke so the ashtray is useless for me anyways. The next one I make I am gonna shift it about 1/2" to the right so I can see the readout for the stock radio just a little better. In any event, it would still not block either air conditioning vent in the center dash area. John86TSi
  14. If you are serious about buying a fiero, a computer geek at work here in Newport News, Virginia has one. He actually lives in Chesepeake, it has been garaged, he bought it new, it has low miles, and he is looking to get rid of it. I kinda liked the look of them in the 80's, but later on they turned me off, even though I am a Pontiac fan. He asked me if I was interested in it, I said no. If you are, pm me and I will ask him the essential questions and get his phone number so you can talk to him. It is one of the newer models, too. John86TSi (and yes, you can go to a starquest forum and find a nice fiero!!!)
  15. METZ Yea, I looked at them again and the base plates are metal and not plastic as I thought they were. I had looked around on the internet alot after Burton had put pics of his emblems on the site, and the only car noted for those badges were the 1981 Dodge Aires with the 2.6 mitsu motor. John86TSi
