1SICDSM
my tep camshaft took a lobe off Edited April 5 by 1SICDSM
kev
Are you sure you didn’t have one of your valve gaps too tight? If a valve were to hang open even the slightest bit, it wouldn’t take long to destroy a lobe. That’s a negative with mech lifters. Do you have the mechanical rocker shafts on there And not the oem hydraulic rocker shafts? tep cams have been pretty reliable over the years. I haven’t heard of many issues like this with their cams but you never know. there aren’t many options available anymore I’d suggest a Schneider 284f or go back with a stock cam for the time being
1SICDSM
mechanical rocker shafts .its a minivan head.they were adjusted perfect.actually adjusted them like 5 times.they made more noise then anything ive ever heard.i spoke to schneider and im sending both the stock cam and tep cam to him to see if the ramps were incorrect. Dad
Zinc needs to be added to the oil to break in cam and rocker arms. Noisy usually means set too loose unless the cam is getting worn. Let us know what you find. Dad
1SICDSM
i was running lucas hot rod oil with zinc.i had rockers adjusted properly.i actually adjusted multiple times then had my guru adjust them to make sure its not me.then i was going to adjust tight to see if noise gets better, then i found the camshaft was missing a lobe.also all the lobes had like pitting almost like air bubbles in the weld and regrind.the camshaft only has 600 miles on it.sent cams to schneider so i will see what they say.
