Cleaned the head thoroughly and lapped the valves and put new valve stem seals in. Piston ring compressor and honing tool came in and I got my 8:1 Wiseco's on order from Dad. It was a good day.

Ordered my rings separate today so I can file fit them while I am waiting for the pistons.

Noticed that the glass mounts on the sunroof were pretty faded. A quick wipe with paint thinner and they looked like this:

Didn't quite know what to paint them with for a factory finish, so they got sprayed with 3 coats of Plasti Dip.

Put it all back together and am pretty happy with the results. I may powdercoat them in the future, but for now, this is acceptable for me.

It looked like at some point that someone had a sticker on the PS tail light. Someone then scraped it off with a razor blade....

I had no idea how to get it out, or if it would even come out...a buddy of mine suggested to use a orbital with a foam pad and some polishing compound. It worked beautifully! I ended up polishing both tail lights...and the scratches are almost invisible!

I finally got my piston ring compressor and honing tool in the mail today along with confirmation that it is 220 grit on the stones. I'll be using a bore-o-scope today to check the cyl bore sizes and honing them to their finished size, and as long as my rings come in today, I'll be setting the end gap on them as well.

EDIT: Got that stuff done along with dropping the crank back in there. I'm itching to get those new pistons!

Severe T storm and hail/tornado warnings be damned, I'm working on my car today. Brought my 10x10 pop up shelter with me so I can keep the front half of my car covered. My goal today is to cut out the old TBI harness and sections of the engine harness I am not currently using with my MS build, back to where they come through the fender, and cap them off there. The wires I do have to keep I will likely run fresh from there over since I have teflon coated mil-spec wire available to me in different colors.

installed camber plates on the fronts and hood struts. Next on the list is replacing the clutch, replacing vacuum lines, painting trim and wipers. Then go through and prep for PF and MOD.

Research day. Figured out how to get the factory coolant gauge to work again thanks to scott87star along with coming up with how to rework the MS harness to clean things up and prep for future MS related mods. Ordered a factory coolant temp sensor. Learned how to delete the ABS. Found the new inline fuel pressure gauge I'll be getting as my current one stopped working.

Got a few wires further into rebuilding my MS harness yesterday along with bolting the exh manifold/turbo assembly back on the head and some of the accessories back on to the engine block. Another 2-3 weeks and this SQ will be back on the road again :).

drove her about 2000 miles the past month :) ... screwed up top hat while BlowinUp54B's and i were fixing leaky primary injector so another fix was required as well. bottomed out coming on to a bridge again and busted v-band clamp causing bent rear exhaust. now loaning her to BlowinUp54B's also with bursted coupler again and no exhaust lol. i'll take er over again when couplers arrive and exhaust and header are repaired haha

Got all but about 10% of the stock wiring not being used in the engine bay eliminated. Yanked the cruise control line. Re-cut the silicone vacuum lines for the engine bay. Discovered that I need to buy an inline thermostat, along with larger diameter silicone line. Got the part number off my fuel pump to see what I have. Laid out locations of my ignition coil, MSD box and tach adapter, fuel injector driver, relays, battery, and MS computer so I can get wire run lengths.

Nice couple hour drove back home today and then put the D2 fronts on.

I'd been driving with just the rears on for about a week and the ride was terrible at low speed. Having the fronts on seemed to have balanced it back out somehow.

First round-a-bout =

First pothole = , It was like the whole car made noise at once. I'm at 0 preload, would adding an 1" of preload help? Give the shock some more extension movement?

sounds like you lowered the car with the preload screw and not threading the body into the lower tube

Nope, I'm still at stock hieght. I can't lower it to much and make it in my driveway. I've had meets at my place and we've used boards and spotters  to help in the past

I think it has 0 preload?. I set that with the coils out of the car. Loosened it up enough so the spring was "free" and then tightened it down a couple of turns. The fronts are threaded into the housings about 2 1/4" and the rears might be a little less.

Thinking about this I realized, I haven't touched the shock adjustment yet either. I don't know if they ship hard, soft, middle... that might help some too.

Sent two of my injectors off for cleaning.

Meanwhile I did the hex bolt conversion to the throttle body and added a few anodized parts my brother SOTTY sent me a while back.

Colin

PS I need to go back to Lowe's for more M5 lock washers, I didn't buy enough of them. <_<
