I know these are not conquest parts but I did some work on the GSX to clean up the engine bay.

Painted the heat shield, oil catch can and the valve cover. I picked up the valve cover as a spare from the dsm I got the blow off valve from. I used paint stripper and and coated everything in wrinkle black.

I got the car back and ready to finish up some other things. Different paint color but I like it. There's a couple of things here and there have to be fixed but it's another step closer to being finished.

Got the new turbo in today and some of the gaskets. Now I just have to order the jet valve delete kit and oil cooler washers and it ready to go in.

Got the turbo off today and found a couple of issues. Someone's has been in here before since te manifold gasket looked aftermarket and a couple of bolts nuts didn't match. I started not to take off the manifold but I figured I might as well not half tail the job since I'm in there already. I found that the #4 exhaust port had blown the gasket due to the stud that missing and also there's a crack between the #1 and # 2 runners. I'm going to weld up the crack and then do the stress relieve mod on the manifold.

I also refinished the center piece in between the tail lights while the pb blaster worked its magic on the manifold studs. A couple of coats of black plastic paint and a couple more of clear coat.

Well I struck a deal with my neighbor and now I have another 88 Conquest. 5spd, black leather, sunroof and working stereo and steering wheel controls.

There's some maintenance items that need to be taken care of but everything else looks good.
