looking good! I had to use a vise for some of the shifter bushings. it wasn't fun but was definitely worth it.

keep em coming!

- Charles

I should've used a vice, I installed them while they were still on the car. We have to do them on my friends car next so Ill make sure to just take his linkage off the car.

I am following this thread now. We seem to have the same car. 88 auto non-shp, though mine has aftermarket suspension. We are also both in NC. I have a question/answer thread in the newbie section as well. http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=140135 trying to get it running correctly right now.

Thats cool to see another NC starquest owner. Funny thing today I found out that I have a couple of neighbors that own some conquest and I had never seen them before. They dropped by since you can see mine from the street.

I decided to go ahead and check out the brakes today and from the looks of it seems like there was some work on this car before it was parked. The rotors have full thickness and pads look great as well. I will take all four rotors to get them turned to get some of the oxidation off. Also the bearings look like they were packed and adjusted as well.

I went ahead and went through the tedious job of getting the old bumper off and getting the new one on. There was a lot of rust on all the brackets that were on the bumper that I bought so it took a while to get them cut off. Ill finish it up tomorrow.

Who would think you'd have to take out so many things just to get to the spoiler bolts. I finally got the replacement spoiler installed and now just waiting to find an air dam so that I can get the car to paint.

  • 1 month later...

Got all the brake parts together and decided to get them on the car and out of the way. I did a complete brake flush and got all the decade old fluid out of the system. I also bought a new TEP downpipe and and ordered a Motocam radio/gauge panel that will hopefully come in next week.

Finally all the parts show up

Got the new front & rear rotors, pads and lines installed.

Got a little more work done today. I took all the wheels off and dropped them of at a tire shop to have the tires taken off so that I can recondition them. Also got the old downpipe off and started working on the b pipe and welded up a new test pipe. Luckily I had one that had the O2 bung on it and positioned it for future use for wideband set up.

Picked up the wheels and got to work on them. Someone used fix-a-flat at some point on one and left a mess behind. I started on grinding it all away because it was not coming off with the pressure washer. The back of the wheels look a lot better after spraying them down with purple power and pressure washing them. Ill start working on getting the lips smooth out next week.

Here is the radio/gauge bezel installed. I could not find a dash kit that was a direct fit so I bought a din pocket and modified to make it work.

I had to drop the tank to replace the dry rotted and cracked filler neck hose. My local mitsu dealer said the part number was discontinued so I bought some from carquest.

take out the card board silencer star looking shape in the intake hole.

could restrict some flow to your turbo.

Better to leave it in. It smooths the response of your air flow meter, they're pretty unreliable without them.

Ok, ill just leave it in then. The last I want is for the car to start running rough since it ran smooth even do it sat for years.

Its getting closer to being road worthy and should hopefully be in paint by the end of May. I just have to install the throttle body rebuild kit, the "s" heater hose coming off the intake manifold and then just take it out for a drive to knock some of the dust off. Im sure other things will come up once I do drive it, but I think I covered most of the maintenance already.

No that is the honey comb silver in the meter is what smooths it out. Don't touch that. The cardboard star looking is just a silencer for the turbo spool.

The metal honey comb in this pic should stay.

Ok I see where maybe he thought your were talking about the honeycomb. Ill take the star out and see how it does. I wanted to do the 1g MAF but I really dont want to hack up the harness.
