dsm9478
I meant to specify that top end performance in california is a rip off aka racetep
psu_Crash
Should have posted before buying anything from them. We could have told you it was a bad idea I have run a Schneider 284-H cam for years and it's just fine. mr-starion
Lol theyre crap is so over priced for nothing! You really think it was the cam? Did you break it in properly?
tsi_tom
Show us some pictures. Just wondering, have you ever built a head before? Edited December 1, 2013 by tsi_tom
NikoFab
Sorry to hear that man. I almost bought a bunch of stuff from them when I first got started but thankfully several members gave me heads up. So I can't testify personally to their stuff...but I will say I think they're over priced.
yamahlr
I disagree. When you have a shop that specializes in a particular vehicle there is the possibility that you have to pay extra for their expertise. I have ordered from them for a number of years (like 20) for both my Ram 50 and my Conquest. Had a problem with the Weber for my truck and Steve the owner made it right immediately. Have ordered stuff for the Quest as well, no issues. Only my experience I'm speaking of.
mr-starion
Theyre "performance parts" are for the most part outdated. I do however have his rear strut brace with battery tray, its a nice piece but i would never pay the tep price for it.
Dad
Cam lobes worn down? Lack of break in Zinc (ZDDP) and improper rpm break in can trash cam and rockers in a short time. They are just a reseller of parts also. What was their response? Dad
DieHARDmitsu.
http://www.starquest...howtopic=139788Lowlife member "Durbenquest" (Alex Durben) traded me a bad Schneider 292 cam for my good 274. He said it had low mile but obviously it wasn't handled, installed or broken in right. Like DAD said, break-in with zinc oil is very important. What oil were you running? importwarrior
what else did you change? did you happen to change the oil pump as well? if so did you use the proper gasket?

dsm9478
Thanks for the fast replies and I didnt use any special break in oil but I was told by a very reliablee machinist who has beeen doing this for over 50 years in my area to just run regular oil for twenty minutes and then change the oil and yes i can get all of you pics tomorrow but there r metal shavings everywhere in my head and the cqm is all scarred up and the car ran perfect the first three days and I just drove it normal and shifted around 3000 rpms and made sure I didnt build very much boost and I had a non jet valve recast with roughly 5000 miles on it the rocker arms and lifters had the same mileage and I had raceteps heavy duty valve springs and stainless steel valves and their street cam which they also couldnt tell me the specifics of it just that it was better than stock

Dad
Roller camshafts don't have this problem, and some oils- diesel had the additive, none do now to my knowledge. Dad

Eirewolf
I've had some good experiences with him. I got a turbo a few years ago, I have that really nice hatch battery tray from him. Nice stuff. I've also got innumerable gaskets, spark plugs, Bosch coils, a water pump, etc. from him.
dsm9478
Yeah it just seems.like their engine parts r junk and overpriced and they tried ripping me off on their prices by overcharging me csuse I looked at their internet prices anf they were cheaper than what the guy told me.over the phone so I called back and made them give me the internet price and they blamed their.prices being wrong on their internet guy
19cturbo
they screwed me years ago on an exhaust... shell rotella oil has zinc in it though, and is very cheap.. thats what i run in my engines.. rotella 15w40
StarquestRescue
To tear that much stuff up that quick, the rocker shafts may have been put in in the wrong location.
