Thanks so much for all the support guys. Scotty and Val especially for being amazing hosts for my wife and I. This week has been exhausting to say the least. We've met a lot of amazing contacts, and should be well set up for next year. This event is going to be amazing for us and our cars. I can't wait and will keep you posted. It will be televised on mav tv, (they've taken over a lot of speeds old shows).. I will let you know when. The show has been great, ppl love it as always. Another dream come true with my old 88. It's been tough for us for sure, but can not wait to get on the track and kick some rich dude butt. Pics to follow.

Hey John! My cousin in law is Yancy Johns from Are You Faster Than A Redneck. He just posted a video from this event and guess who's car I saw?!!! Your starquest was looking good man!

I think he brought his 2010 Camaro to the SEMA show...does this look familiar?

For a budget build by 1 guy and not a truly 100% rich guy funded team I think he did great. Just getting to where he has is killer, and I ma proud of him, and what he is doing for these cars. Only regret I have is never meeting him in person when he was here in Michigan..

If he is back next year i truly would love to come help...

Got a link? I went to their website, but the most recent thing I saw about it was a list of the people selected.

Yeah, that's BS His car should have gotten the full 10 points for that, which would have moved him from 30th to 20th. Hell, even if 10 was the max, he should have gotten 15 or 20 just for design.

He must have gotten the big goose egg because his car isn't a real SQ ;)

Oh, and I used to have Mav TV when I had the Blockbuster package thru Dish, but then found out I could still get Velocity Channel (main reason we got the Blockbuster package)on just their HD package. We needed to scale some bills down so we got rid of the Blockbuster package. I hope it gets posted online somewhere. Or could someone who has Mav get me a copy?

That point breakdown is bullstinky. All of those cars were garage queens and show cars. John's car is designed to drive across the country without issue.

Yes indeed , some of those cars in the Optima are 6 figure builds complete with 4 car enclosed haulers and team back up and i agree John's home built Conquest deserved more recognition for the 1,000's of hours work and thought he put in his build , but on the plus side 1. he was still faster than most of them :) 2. being invited to take part in SEMA and the Optima has opened up new doors for John which he'll share with you all once he's rested up . :) Edited by SOTTY

All you have to do is look at some of the names on the list to know that those cars were going to win. Lots of money, sponsorships, "good ol' boy" he has been here for years bias, $100,000 plus show car trailer queens, etc.... The very fact that Convette was picked to be in the field is a huge honor. Great Job!

Thanks everyone. Really busy at work today, but heres a quick update.

The week was craaaazy. went by super fast, so much work. Talked to a lot of great people, made A LOT of really good contacts, and most importantly picked up a few potential sponsors for next year. I did ok at the track. I knew I would be mid field somewhere, but hoped to do better than I did. The car however did amazing, but I made a few stupid mistakes that cost me a lot of time. Being even a half a sec off of the pace could put you back 20 places. The competition was not funking around. Serious boys out there with deeeep pockets. Even so, I know my car was capable of so much more. Overall, I beat a lot of really amazing cars, I cant wait to see the actual numbers (times) from everything. Again, I cant thank everyone enough for all their support. I def had one of the rarest cars there, but not nearly the nicest. The judging on design was probably the poorest I've seen. As far as my car is concerned, its a bucket compared to the ones there, and I didnt expect to get any points there. However, the audi r8, with rims, a body kit, and neon lights took 3rd place....? For real, I'm sure that upset a lot of guys with way more thought, time and effort into their cars. Especially considering the gorgeous Corvette that won the event over all, scored half the points of the Audi. For what its worth, I murdered the r8 on the track, and the lambo, and tons of other big $$$ cars. It just kills me though, cause I didnt' do bad, but def could have done better had I been more focused on the track. With any luck, I'll have another go at it next year, with a lighter, wider, more powerful car. I'll get some more pics up through out the week.

Thanks again guys for coming out and supporting me.

Which makes you wonder what is their definition of "street car"? When I hear street car, I imagine it's something that is driven on public roads.

I don't think we here should gripe about this technicality.

The point is: John competed yet again in a publicized event and brought light once again onto our obscure and sometimes forgotten cars.

John, awesome job. You did great and I'm sure you put some experience under your tool belt.

Those cars may be pretty and rolled out of a expensive trailer but queens there are not. No purely show car is going to win this competition.Personally think that Convettes car is the type of build that they should be supporting. Most of the aftermarket goes to a guy in his garage building his version of the automotive dream. Those high dollar cars are cool but are a extremely small percentage of the auto industry. Need more videos!

Haha, Never gets old Dale.

So they posted revised numbers today, I actually did ok. I placed 26th. If you take away the cars that only scored highly for the design part I would have been 18th! I know the car is capable of a ton 10 had I had driven better. Its funny cause, I was car number 3 for the modified event, and took 3rd. Car 26 for this event and ended up 26th... I need lower car numbers!

Well done John!!

The fact that you smoked an R8 and Lambo with a car truly built in your garage with your hands... well, Im blown away. I know if I was you I would put that on my resume or something, thats freaking awesome! Super pumped to see you pushing the limits and getting our cars more exposure.

Everyone, including John, struggled to keep traction in all events. John's car was probably the cheapest build there and he beat a lot of cars. He should be very proud and I'm sure he got a lot of attention from participating. For the record, that highly modded 65' Corvette was a BEAST and the driver was really consistent. He earned the win. Zero for design????????????wt.... those people seems that they judge by the super street mag law.....

Even though i am not from your country ,sometimes i get the impression that i have seen and know about your culture more than you do...

.....or maybe i spent too much time on my pc :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Either way John no matter what place you have finished, there people out there that admire greatly of what you have done and achived and are very jealous(always in a good way) of your car.

High up there in this list is surely me..

Wel done my friend and best of luck for your oncoming plans.
