pancake88
Ok guys so I have switched to another body the yellow car still has some wiring issues but still working on that body to I have also made some progress got the motor in mocked up and adapter plate running a 240sx transmission I know a guy running this setup in a 240 for 2 and 1/2 years no problems can't wait to have this going well here it is guys http://i900.photobucket.com/albums/ac203/1jzconquest/phonepics023.jpg http://i900.photobucket.com/albums/ac203/1jzconquest/rebuild003.jpg http://i900.photobucket.com/albums/ac203/1jzconquest/rebuild005.jpg http://i900.photobucket.com/albums/ac203/1jzconquest/rebuild004.jpg
BOHO
If you need to borrow my mig welder you're welcome too it....its a flux core piece of crap but it can get the job done. Glad you got the trans worked out.
TexasQuest
Interesting choice going with a 240 tranny...... These motors are stout, ae86 guys have been running these for years with insane results!
pancake88
I might take you up on that offer get things done faster when you free so I can use it and yes I looked into the swap many times the 240sx transmission is just a bit longer so push the motor forward and its fine and they are only $200 vs the R154 and W58 is like $800 to $1200 and they will hold the power fine
yokomo
yeah that trans is tough, but ditch the POS stock radiator, and just get a 3 row alum SR20 rad from CXracing on ebay.
randy
yeah that trans is tough, but ditch the POS stock radiator, and just get a 3 row alum SR20 rad from CXracing on ebay. You did the same swap i like those what's the hp #?
randy
Off topic question is there anyway you can get me one off those bolts or get me a copy of thatbolt on the strut bar? I bought the same strut bar but the bolt was broken in half.
Technology
The Lexus motor is such a nice choice. So smooth. The other day I was looking at a 4.4L BMW V8 in a wrecked X5 with saliva dripping off my mouth.... Pushrod motor with a really low height. A pushrod BMW motor? maybe in the 50's but never in an X5. pancake88
Thanks guys yeah I'm not using the factory radiator but wasn't sure which one to use and I heard good things about the trans and they are alot cheaper I will see what I can do on the bolt man

Don't see why it couldn't be turbo'd either! Soarer V8 siteBullet Cars 1UZ superchargerLextreme Edited May 7, 2012 by Fuze
Fuze
A pushrod BMW motor? maybe in the 50's but never in an X5. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/61/BMW_V8_engine_X5.jpgYeah you must be right. I took a quick look and it looked very low, but must have been all the plastic. When I look for a OHC V8, I always expect to see something like a Ford 4.6 with the giant heads.
