Technology
Get a walbro 255 HP. maybe cheaper than the 044, but plenty big, and when that runs out, which I don't think will happen on TBI, you can just get another one and have dual pumps. Then call it a holley double pumper.

StarquestRescue
I fixed the fuel pump issue with a walbro 255. The injectors not flowing enough at idle and cruise was a dead time issue i fixed with a versafueler peak and hold injector driver. Last year i thought it was odd that i had to run more positive afc correction than the math predicted with the 850 delphi at idle and cruise. When i stepped up to a 1050 primary for my e85 project and it barely delivered more fuel at cruise and idle i thought what the frack? So i picked up a used versafuler http://www.acceleronics.com/versafueler.htm and hit pay dirt. Went from plus 50 and still to lean on the afc, to 0 and just right. Seems the stock ecu does not like after market injectors. The fuel delivery is much more linear now, instead of progressively getting richer as the injector duty cycle increased. I can run up to 8 injectors with this gadget.
StarquestRescue
Current turbo is a 18g 05h 15* clip. Running strait e85. A lot more than that has changed since last year. Boost is tailing off. I tried to bump it up half way through the pull but was a little late on the 307 run. Did manage to get similar boost at peak power vs last years 297/403. Never really got it leaned out enough either. The car likes 12-12.5 to pull clean on the e85. 307/360 http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff45/StarquestRescue/Data%20logs/DSC02644.jpg Last years 297/403 18g o5h http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff45/StarquestRescue/Data%20logs/DSC02132.jpg 307 /360 run http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff45/StarquestRescue/Data%20logs/307HP360TQDYNO.jpg 302 / 355 run http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff45/StarquestRescue/Data%20logs/302HP355TQ.jpg Boost comparison to last years 297/403. I bumped it up about 5000 rpm. That is a 2-3 pound differance in the middle of the run, maybe more. I recalibrated the map sensor since last year because it seemed to be reading a pound or two low. http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff45/StarquestRescue/Data%20logs/Dynoboostcomparison.jpg Edited October 23, 2011 by StarquestRescue

dmyers151
Great numbers John, I love the ingenuity in your setups. That Versafueler is pretty interesting. Where did those 43 ft-lbs go though? Seems like its not worth making 10 extra hp if your losing that much torque. Can you elaborate more on what else changed between last years setup and this most recent?
Funky Phil
The gain in HP comes from an increase in VE.
StarquestRescue
Some of the torque was lost to the clip, some to the boost tailing off in the middle of the pull, some to maybe the timing and lack of head porting? That higher torque was not really usable at that low off rpm anyway. In a run up through the gears i am above my old torque peak any way. I was a little disappointed, but i see untapped potential in the way peak power responded the boost increases. The injectors are maxing out and i get a big afr dip at about 90% that is harder to tune for than the old set up. Old step up--------------- NEW SET UP 7-1 Silverlite---------------8-1 wiesco Stock size ss valves------over size ss valves, stock seat bore Ported head ---------------no porting Race gas blend------------ E85 850/1400 injectors --------1050/1800 injectors driven off the versafueler. 18g 05h-----------------------18g 05h 15* clip 10* base timing----------------6* base timing Edited October 25, 2011 by StarquestRescue

StarquestRescue
I figured i needed a little more fuel so i replaced the 1800 secondary with a 2000. Unexpectedly the fuel delivery is more linear past 85% duty cycle. I tested my fuel and it was dead on 85% ethanol. I have been working with 2 stage mbc controlled by a rpm switch. Got it dialed in on the 4th run of the day, and ripped off a 12.78 @ 112.65. Air temp was about 50*. Hoosier 225/50/16 dr's http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff45/StarquestRescue/Data%20logs/DSC02652.jpg The ideal was to bring the second stage in about the time the initial boost spike was about to drop. The setting may well be almost the same, i need to count how many clicks they are at. This screen shot is labeled wrong. It should say dotted line is 14.40 @ 105 http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff45/StarquestRescue/Data%20logs/1278boostvs144.jpg http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff45/StarquestRescue/Data%20logs/1278boost1-2shift.jpg Edited November 20, 2011 by StarquestRescue

Lance_S
DANG!!!! SQR, nice work. Is that with just the two injectors or with the third one active? Either way, solid for TBI for sure. The 06 hot side made a crazy difference. BTW, what does your car weigh? Thanks, Lance Edited April 12, 2012 by Lance_S
StarquestRescue
To keep the boost from coming in to soon and causing compressor surge problems in street driving, I ended up with an ebc, with the sensor hose plumbed through a solenoid controlled by an rpm switch. So the sensor does not see pressure till the rpm switch opens the solenoid at 3500 rpm, after which the ebc takes over. I also added some external springs to raise the base boost pressure to 15 psi.
