dstar88
Still no complaints on it yet. Ill try to snap some pictures of it when I get a chance. Theres a little bit that you have to do To make it a true bolt in, but so far everything was well worth it. Daniel
Dave-O
yokomosQUEST has a Nissan SR20 aluminum radiator [from eBay] in his 1UZ-swapped car. http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=98849&view=findpost&p=1057116 http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o249/yokomo99/red%20car%20related/Photo1038.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o249/yokomo99/red%20car%20related/Photo1042.jpg If anyone is worried about durability, I've seen the CXRacing [eBay brand] radiators on almost every SR-powered 240sx in Cali and Vegas drift events, and even sliding around at full-tilt in 110* weather, nobody's overheated due to a radiator issue, and nobody has had any failures. For what it's worth.
garychoffmann
I have a summit radiator. Unfortunately the frame rails had to be notched and welded for it to fit. SR is probably the way to go
dstar88
heres the pictures of it in my car. I modded the lower radiator spout to look identical to the stock one, that way i wont have to worry about getting a different lower hose. the upper hose worked as well, it just needed to be cut shorter a bit to keep it from kinking. from the top:http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/uu89/daniels_zx6/2010-08-30112632.jpg pic of one of the side mounting brackets that we made up, just basically drilled two holes on the side of the radiator (theres a rail that goes down both sides that has some metal that sticks out about a quarter inch or so), lined it up with the stock location and bolted it down. :http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/uu89/daniels_zx6/2010-08-30112654.jpg heres a look at the bottom, we made an extra support to sit on top of the old radiator lower support since this one is not round, It wont sit in there. And we didnt want it to scrape on it(as a "just in case it moves" precaution). Then bent the end up so that it cant slide out twards the engine (another "just in case" precaution). So now it sits on a flat surface, instead of a.....what ever thats lower support would be called..lol:http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/uu89/daniels_zx6/2010-08-30112756.jpg and a closer picture of the modded lower radiator spout, that lower hose fit like a glove!: http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/uu89/daniels_zx6/2010-08-30112852-1.jpg Daniel

dstar88
Dstar removed the egr thermovalve and stuck the stock primary thermoswitch there. Yup! Thanks Scotty. Forgot to add that part. since i need to get that thermo valve back in there eventually. I want to try to find a smaller temp sensor for the fans that can go into the thermostat housing. I figured since i dont have a A/C no more in the car. I can use that spot for the fan switch. or maybe just drill and re-tap the hole to accept the bigger stock temp sensor. dstar88
no, you dont need to modify anything in the car. you just have to mod the radiator. this sr20 radiator is a little bit wider and not as tall as the stock radiator, but the specs in length are practically the same. If you go back and look at the pictures and compare it to a picture with a stock radiator in it. you will see that the stock rad is a little taller. And this Radiator will be practically flush with the front support and a little wider in girth(going towards the engine). the only problem that i noticed is the drain plug area...when you drop the radiator in, that plug is practically placed right on top of the driver side frame rail..That was a big OPPS when we finished installing it. what i should have done is get that plugged up and move the plug twards the middle of the radiator, so it can be drained easily. Now i have to sort of make a mess to get the radiator drained..but im ok with that....sorta...for now. I still wouldnt consider it as having to modify anything to the car to get the radiator to fit...Unless you want to drill a hole in the frame rail instead of relocate the drain plug. I can take some pictures of that as well if you want, and post them up, so you can see what im talking about...if it makes it easier to understand. also keep in mind that i have the MK1 crank pully with trigger wheel, and the fans used are i believe 2 12" flexi light fans. And yet, i still have a substantial amount of room between the fans and the trigger pully with triger wheel. hopefully this info helps Daniel
