TsTKl
where can you buy these? How much do they cost? eBay, $1300.i googled and found them at a couple places I've never heard of for 975ish, which is the price d2's go for for most other cars they make coilovers for so that sounds about right. seriously people who gives a s*** how low the can go, all that matters is if they can handle well. I'm sure they can go lower than you would want to drive the car with,.. some people these days... anyone autocrossed these yet or anything? I'm interested in how the handling is improved on flat pavement. does this work with both shp and non shp spindles? I have no idea if they are the same outer diameter or not, wanted to make sure before I bought a set. Edited September 17, 2010 by TsTKl
tehzack
seriously people who gives a s*** how low the can go I do. The only reason I want a set is so I can get this rig as low as my 240 was. If you don't pick up reflectors when you change lanes you aren't doing it right. 92 GSR-4
Looking Nice! Did you guys receive a dyno sheet for each of your struts indicating their shock and rebound rates?
Maxzillian
All I received was a generic technical manual and a pamphlet catalog. I'm a little disappointed truth be told as I get the vibe that they largely just developed a set of mounts for our cars and hadn't done any definitive testing to fine tune the valving settings. Granted, valving is usually pretty close when you go off vehicle weight. Here's to hoping the 36 adjustments offered cover a wide range.
92 GSR-4
After reading various articles on performance suspensions, I think I'm a little too skeptical on these kits. Check out this Far North Racing article I stumbled upon while researching suspension replacement options for my DSM: http://farnorthracing.com/autocross_secrets6.html and this http://farnorthracing.com/autocross_secrets18.html Two quotes that deeply concern me: " * Bilstein * Penske * Koni * Ohlins * Sachs * Dynamic Suspension Not on this list? Almost certainly crap." "You must, must, must have dyno plots for your shocks - and not just 'typical' plots, but the actual performance of each of your shocks. " I think its worth looking into. Over a G for a set of coilovers? Hard to swallow after reading this article. At least for me if I didn't know the shock and rebound characteristics. Over a G for a set of coilovers? Hard to swallow after reading this article. At least for me if I didn't know the shock and rebound characteristics. All the coilover companies listed above will run in the neighborhood of $3000+ so 1k for something close but not quite isn't that bad of a deal. Unless you're planning on running balls out on a high speed track, D2's will cover most of your needs. Kane
92 GSR-4
Kane, I definitely agree with that, but one of the main points of the article is "matching" struts together based on their performance characteristics. One example given in the article I linked above is that he would get a bulk order of Koni struts and dyno each one and start matching them together in sets. The adjustable valves just helped him to better match them together. So essentially, I would be looking for each strut to behave closely to the other 3 because you don't want different shock and rebound rates on each corner of the car.
