indy_85stariones
Chip thank you for your service to the USA, and thanks for doing it at Mach 2. Yes, I wish to show my appreciation to Chip (and others in the Conquest/Starion family) for their difficult work in the military. Memorial Day is next Monday. Traditionally on this day, Americans decorate the graves of those who served their country with flowers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memorial_Day Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (May 31 in 2010). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. Boosted77.
My grand father fought in WWII. He received the Purple Heart when a plane crashed into the aircraft carrier he was on and he dove off the side of the ship and landed on a lower level and hurt his self pretty bad. My dad who is 78 years old now, fought in the Korean war back in the '50's, the "forgotten war". My older brothers were just young enough that the missed the Vietnam war. Starfighterpilot
I would like to honor two shipmates of mine who were killed in late 1971 as a direct result of the nuc sub I was stationed on, being caught in a harbor (whose name begins with Vlad), and that country's efforts to blow/force us to the surface, but not sink us. Needless to say, that county's efforts were not successful, but came damn close. The USA, to this day, will "neither confirm or deny" that the US was involved in that action. Those guys are: Tim Sather MM1(SS) Mike Bowen TM3(SS) Sailors, rest your oars. We also had about 10 other men who were injured, some seriously. It was a privilege and a honor to serve with those men. BTW - We got the intelligence that we went in that harbor for, so their sacrifices were not in vain.
