  1. I suspect your valve seals. If your car is stored for the winter and not driven a ton, they may have dried out and letting oil slip by - esp since your coolant level isnt changing, id lean more toward oil. Check your PCV as well, it might stuck or shot. Itscs cheap easy replace.
  2. Yes, I have used Send Cut Send before. And that's who I was planning on using for this bracket as well. Like I said above, I really need to iron out the prototype bracket. I got about 75% there and then I was having trouble with getting the arc of tensioner slot just perfect so that the belt can be tightened. It doesn't help that I don't have a spare motor to work off of. So, I have to test it on my own car. I have a spare block on a stand, but I don't have a spare crank and crank pulley that I would need to make this job much easier.
  3. Front emblem relocation. Yes, custom. I got the idea from another member on the old board before it crashed. Not sure if his photos are still around. In short, I made a clay mold. Let it dry. Measured the mold and drew it in CAD, then 3D printed the insert and glued it into the grill creating a flat spot I could mount it. I did it about 9 years ago and its held up great. Ive used the Mother's aluminum polish for years. But a friend who drives truck for a living turned me on to the Zephyr metal polish. I gotta admit, its expensive but its way better. First time I polished the tips with it. I love the OEM dual tips on these cars as well.
  4. I think its safe to assume everything fir these cars is NLA unless Dad has it.
  5. Only way it's gonna ground itself is if there's some exposed wire somewhere that's touching or bumping something it shouldn't (hence the heat). You might want to see if you can pinpoint it further unless you're sure it's completely isolated to the speaker. Does everything else in that rear area work that might be coming off that portion of the harness? Rear wiper, 3rd brake light, antenna, ... etc.
  6. That title heading needs an explanation. In 2016 when I had the car painted during restoration, the paint shop told me not to wax the car for the first year. Well, 1 year turned into 2 years, into 3, into 4 ... now its 9 years later. I haven't washed the car with actual water in probably the last 4 or 5 years. (I really do not like washing Starquests due to the foam front bumper support holding water and rotting out the bumper support). The car is garage kept, only driven on nice days and I've always used a Griot's Speed Shine spray wax on it - so it's not like the paint is seeing any abuse, but for whatever reason I was thinking about it this week and I felt like today was the day. Gave it a quick wash Went over the whole car with a clay bar. And then waxed it with some Meguiar's Mirror Glaze. I got this stuff for Christmas from a good friend. I've never really been a user of Meguiar's products, so this was my first time ever using this. I'm impressed. FYI - All these photos are unedited. No filters, just my phone as is. And I took a minute to polish the exhaust tips, which I haven't done in a while. All in all, a pretty meaningless post, but I haven't posted anything meaningful in a while - so why not some pictures of the car! Just trying to keep this forum alive. 👍
  7. Great question and thanks for following up. I still have the pump and starting designing a new PS bracket in CAD, but never finished it. We recently got a water jet cutter at work, so I do want to get back to working on this (since my OEM pump still leaks). I'm about 100% sure the pump is going to work, it just a matter of designing a bracket and getting it in the right position so the belt tensions properly. If I ever work entirely through this, I'll share my solution, but it's going to be on the user to recreate my bracket design. I'll probably only ever have a one-off one made for myself. Unless, I can find a small shop to make a batch of them or something.
  8. What is the headunit you're installing? I installed a headunit from a Mitsu Diamante a few years back in my Starion and it did the same thing. Turned out after some research the headunit was an Infinity unit from the 90s that had a pre-amp installed in the original car and wouldn't make sound. Ended buying the same headunit but a non-infinity unit and it was fine. You can also try wiring your new headunit to a 12V laptop power cord (just need the hot and ground) and hook up some speakers and effectively bench test it. If it doesn't make sound there either you might have a defective headunit ... or you pinned something wrong.
  9. Glad the car passed inspection kev!! Congrats.
  10. Crazy work as usual kev. Your dedication to this car is noteworthy, and the crazy thing is this is really just a secondary driver for you - not even your main build!
  11. I actually listed my Starion for sale 2 years ago for one the nicest Turbo 944's I have ever come across. The seller was super cool and gave me a chance, but in the end I couldn't sell the car quick enough and it sold ... unfortunately the car went overseas. I LOVE 944's and would really like to own one someday.
  12. I'll definitely post up with what I find out, but it might be a little bit - like fall or winter. Other than that the initial puff of burnt oil the car is running really well and I'm in the middle of a building a garage at the new house, restoring a Galant VR-4 with my son and I bought a new turbo for the Eclipse almost 2 years ago I'd like to get installed and tuned, so barring anything crazy the Starion is kinda on the back burner for now. Honestly, I don't think I would ever build another G54B at this point. If something were to happen to my current motor, I'd swap - just not sure to what. I'm kinda between 4G63, 5.0 and 1JZ. I'm still kicking myself for not buying all the 4G63 stuff from you when you moved.
  13. If they are just standard o-rings then I probably already have them in one of the o-ring kits I have then. Pretty sure I saw the valve stem seals on Dad's website. I'll try doing a new PCV valve before I do anything. Having to do rings would be really disappointing since I never trash on the car and it has about 4-5k miles on the rebuild in the last 10 years. If that's the case I may live with it for this season and figure what I want to do over winter. Like I said, it only does it once after startup and first shift. Then it's fine. Something is seeping while its sitting and then its burning if off.
  14. This season my car has started puffing some smoke after the first shift after start up. It does it once and then it won't do it again while driving. So naturally I'm thinking it's time for new valve stem seals. Which kinda stinks considering how few miles I've put on this car since restore, but I guess they get hard and don't seal anymore even while sitting. Anyway, I was reading up on some old threads about doing the job and I stumbled across one where Shelby mentioned you should do the Jet Valve Elimination O-rings too b/c oil can sit on top of them and cause the same symptom. I'd hate to replace the valve stem seals and discover the car is still doing it b/c I didn't do the o-rings. 1 - Can anyone verify that is in fact true? Shelby was usually pretty trustworthy. 2 - I don't see the o-rings for sale anywhere separately. Anyone know the size? Or is it easier to just buy a new elimination kit while the valve cover is off?
  15. I love Starquest wheels. One if the few production cars that IMO came eith the perfect set of wheels.
