Update:

Well, I have most of the right rear 1/4 panel finished. Im looking for a piece of equipment I need to make the last patch panel to finish it up. Im also waiting on Sotty to cut out some good rust free NV left rear 1/4 panel patches for me before I get started on that side. So, in the meantime, I am working on a few projects
1 is the 83 tail lense reproduction project. I have bought every spare set of 83 tails I can get my hands on and hopefully will be starting to make molds to reproduce 83 lenses in the near future
2 is odds and ends on the fiji, I bought a set of Quest tails from Burton that had tinted lenses, but needed taken apart and cleaned up and re-sealed. Here are some pics of them finished up and the rear license plate center molding all cleaned, sanded, and repainted.

They look way darker than they actually are. If you hold them up and look trough them from the back you can see right through. I know they will light up alot better now that they've been disassembled, repainted silver on the inside and all 3 lenses thoroughly cleaned and polished. Im hoping that Motocam will finish up his led taillights soon and start offering a package to convert stock tails to led.

You'd be suprised. Like BC said, they look darker than they are. 3 coats of VHT "Night Shades" and a few coats of a good urethane automotive clear. The clear actually makes them look darker than they are and really gives them that deep, glossy piano black look.

I have done dozens of sets of tailights for many different cars and have done them all the same. The brake lights, and even parking lights are still visible during the day, Every set I have done used normal off the shelf bulbs... no LEDs, and even with the standard bulbs, they are nicely visible.

Thanks for the input Mark, so whaddya think about the 2 tone black look on em with the shiny lenses and wrinkle finished housing? I kinda dig the look. I will definately be sending some 83 lenses your way when I get them in production.
