Confuzd
So, I seen Serpent's thread a couple years ago and got the 2jz bug. I quickly went out and bought a 2jz and low and behold never had the time or the know how I thought I had, to complete this project. The motor has been sitting in my shop since I pulled the twins off of it a week after I got it, back in 2010. A couple days ago my brother hits me up and tells me he is interested in doing the project with me. My brother and I don't get along to well so I thought it would be a good thing for him and I do this project together. We both could work on and complete something that we both had a hand in and something to say we did together. I had'nt been on the forums in a while, so I started doing research again about this swap. The motor mounts is what was scaring me. It was a relief to me to find out that Vettekiller was making these mounts now. As soon as I found this out I shot Vette a PM. Guys, I'm super excited about getting this thing put together. I went home Monday morning after I got off work and started pulling the body panels off. Im working night shift currently and had to bail for some sleep, but my brother got a lot done and we are ready to pull the G54B out as soon as we can. I took some pics from what work we got done. I kind of want to keep this as a log, so I'll post them as soon as I get them uploaded. It might take us a while to get it complete but it should be fun. Im working 6 days a week 12 hours a day right now, so it might start wearing on me putting in some extra hours on the quest...lol. I've already bought the cast manifold from suprastore.com. I'm not looking to make killer horsepower right yet. I just want to get this thing running and enjoy driving my quest again. This is the manifold I bought..... http://www.suprastor...cairtuexma.html Im looking at turbo's now and looking for options. I'm also looking in to timeing belt replacement kits. I need to do all that work as well. I'll post some pics soon and any help or advice you guys can send my way would be greatly appreciated.

Confuzd
Boho I read through your thread tonight. You seem to have my luck with working on cars...lol. Great ride you have man. I can't wait to get mine just sitting in the car instead of that awful G54B. I do have a question. What is the best radiator to run on these things? BOHO
A lot of us go with the mk3 supra (87-92), They are cheap and fit perfect between the frame rails...They do require custome brackets though.
speedyquest
What is the hardest part of the 2jz swap? I would imagine it would be wiring and mounts. Allen

Confuzd
I was trying to load some pics on here this morning, but after working 12hrs lastnight, working on the quest for a couple hours in the morning, and then trying to get my sorry laptop to cooperate with me, I finally just crashed. I'll try again in the morning. I managed to get it on jack stands. Getting it ready to pull the trans out. Im pretty pumped about getting this thing put together. Speedy, the hardest part for me was going to be the mounts. Im not a welder, so it was kind of intimidating to think about having to do that end of it and for the motor to sit right. Now that Im getting some from Vette, it's a relief. I think between my brother and I we'll have no problems doing some small welding for the trans mount and other brackets we need to have for the radiator and intercooler. The wiring is kind of worrying me too. But we'll figure it out. It's going to be a experience to say the least....lol. But Im ready for the challenge. Robert that is a sick looking car you have in your sig. My first car was a black quest. Those wheels really set it off.
Confuzd
Here is some pics from Monday morning. These were taken with my iPhone. I'll start using my digital camera from now on... http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj20/nucLearhemi/Disassemble2.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj20/nucLearhemi/ConquestDisassemble.jpg
BOHO
I'm at the exact same place right now. My wiring will be completely different than the 1jz...Do you already have a heads up on it or you havn't gotten than far yet?
Confuzd
Boho, nah I havent got that far yet as far as the wiring. I still need to buy a timing belt kit and replace all that stuff on the motor. I've scanned over the motor a few times and I know for sure that the TPS is going to have to be replaced. It's all busted up. There is a few other clips that are beat up that I don't know what they go to yet. I need to get a r154 trans. I was content with the w58 at first but now I might start looking at getting a r154. That may be later on though...... My mind wants to go bust some things out in the morning when I get off work. But my body just wont let it happen...lol. Working this 12hr night shift is killing me. What made you go with the 2jz Boho?
BOHO
I had every intention on modding the 1jz but the 2jz came up for sale and I've known jon for years so I went and grabbed it. going r154 is a pretty expensive option. it can turn into a 12-1800$ investment pretty quick. Serpent maxed out the twins while still on a w58. I think he put down around 360 wheel and didn't have any issues out of it, but from what i've read on the lexus forums 400 is pretty much the max. Just depends on what you want.
Confuzd
I hear that. I would like to make at least 400 with it starting off. I'll have to keep my eyes and ears open for a r154 for sale though. We'll see. I have a 93 3000gt I'm getting painted next month. I have a lot of money put aside for that thing. It's my everyday driver and it was begining to look pretty rough....lol. I had to do something.

Confuzd
Vette, that is awesome man. I may take that TPS off your hands. Let me know how much you want for it. I went out this morning and bought me some new jack stands I needed. We really need a lift in our shop....lol. Im ready to get off these damn nightshift hours so I can get some work done to this thing.

Confuzd
Yeah Joe, that is one of my dad's projects, 70 GTX. That was the family car back in the 80's...lol. He is in the process of retoring a 71 Dodge Challenger at the moment. The GTX should be the next car on the list to get some attention. Sweet car, but it needs a lot of work. Confuzd
I got a little work done this morning. Got my new jack stands under the tail end of it. So now I'm able to crawl under the thing. I removed the drive shaft and getting things set up to remove the trans. While removing my center console I found that a mouse has made my center console and glove box a nice home. I believe when I had my car sitting in my last home with a unfinished garage, he must have got into it then. Thank god his tail wasn't in the car when I was removing these pieces. I would have gladly fed him to my cats...lol. I spent a lot of time cleaning up the rodents mess he made. Mice are nasty little critters. Anyways, I took some more crappy pics with my cell. I need to charge my camera. Interior....I have a question about all this mess. Serpent, I seen where you mounted your ECU and where you guys are running your harness through. So, do I remove all this stuff in this area to run the harness or am I able to keep all this in place??? http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj20/nucLearhemi/conquest2.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj20/nucLearhemi/conquest2-2.jpg Drive Shaft... http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj20/nucLearhemi/conquest3.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj20/nucLearhemi/conquest1.jpg
