MotorRad high flow....anyone using this?

Recommended Posts

Reduces the delay in engine warm up
??????? Thermostat doesn't come into play until the engine is warmed up. Stabilizes pressure? What do they consider "stable"?? I want to see some pressure drop data. Trapped air, well the owner did a crappy job filling it if there is trapped air in there.

Probably don't need more than 10 GPM flow to begin with.......

But what the hell, spend money!

Yeah, when it works, it's similar to the concept of removing the stat. I just don't trust the company, and honestly I'd sooner just remove the stat if I need to. I'd probably mod the rest of the system first though.

The above tests are from my MPI car thats a every day daily driver including rush hour.

not really, will overheat idling or in slow traffic without the thermostat

I drove to VA Beach just recently. Long drive with a droney muffler and 88 hemroid seats. Anyways after an hour 20 minutes of driving with the temp gauge a hair above the 2nd cold mark I hit 8 miles of bumper to bumper 1mph road work traffic in Hampton Roads. Temp never got above the highest in the above pics.

You must have been on 64 or 264 going through a tunnel. I use to live in HR.

I the engine likes to maintain a certain amount of heat, that's why the T-stat was put in place. It burns gas better at a certain temp. The cooling system is designed to maintain it a normal driving temp if you were driving uphill, in the desert, with a car full, with the AC blowing. Like Viper was saying, that t-stat is performing like it's not there. I guess that's a good thing, if that's what you are looking for.

Ive been running one for a few months and not really liking it. Ive got a real time temp gauge and monitor it. The temp drops as low as 170 and will come back up to 190 after some really hard runs. IMO its too cold. I would prefer a steady 190-200. 170 is just too cold for my liking. Im switching back to a 180 tstat this week.

I'm on a stock 2 core, radiator never goes over 194f (so ecu sees ~185)
