How to Poly Torque Tube Mounts

18 June 2019 - 10:45 AM

Information provided by:

Here at GNT,,, we have been asked a few time,,,, " Do you need the factory steels" and well the answer is yes. and here is a how to....

First remove your factory mounts. they will probably look like this..........
Posted Image

i started by warming up the steel a little bit to soften it,,,, nothing crazy just yet,,,, lol
Posted Image

now i took a shoe knife and sliced off the rubber...
Posted Image

and it comes out like this.....
Posted Image

now for the part that has the bushings in it. i warmed it up and used some pliers. twist it till it becomes free.
Posted Image
Posted Image

Then heat up and slice like before. note this steel has a taper to it. and note the direction. it can also not be used if you choose not to use it.... its all a personal choice. but for here..... were gonna use it.
Posted Image

now, lets pour on the heat a little,,,, burn the rubber off,,,,note,,,there hot.... lol.. ask me how i know.
Posted Image

Now,,, let them cool. and off to the blast cabinet. or if you dont have one you can sand or scrape the residue off.
Posted Image

and they kinda come out like this. i needed to blast a bit more but good enough for demonstration.
Posted Image

now, for some self etching primer,,,
Posted Image
Posted Image

and paint,,,,,,,,,,

now there dry enough to handle,, re assemble.

And thats how its done. re install back in your car. and go for a spirited,,non clunking ride.

Thinking about a headlight harness for my car

Thinking about a headlight harness for my car.

might not make a difference but it seems like a good idea.

uses power from battery directly to the lights.

Heavy Duty Headlight Conversion Harness w/Relays

NOTE: Our headlight harness includes a pre-installed diode that allows the high and low beams to emit light at the same time when the brights are turned on. Should you need to disable this feature, simply remove the diode from the wiring harness.
