Knife Edge Crank? Your thoughts?

What is your take on a knife edge crank? I read mostly negative posts on the internet about the knife edge crank and that it doesn't free up of enough HP to compromise your crank. I also read an interesting post made from a SEMA attendee that if you go this route, you have to change the bearings annually. First I would like to applaud the work that is done here. In an era of "everybody out for themselves" it is a testimonial of others working to help others. I was wondering if the 3-piece silicone heater core hose set by *DM is still available? Also, I see on ebay that MK1 sells the same thing, and was wondering which set fits better? Anyone have the MK1 and/or *DM set on their car?
