I have been wanting to use the code reading plug everyone says is in the top of the glove box but have not been able to find it. does the 86 even have one or is this another case of tail hole po. post pics please might be over looking but all i see is glove box light and dash speaker!

there is an odd noise coming from the area toward the front passenger side of the car...it started 2 or 3 nights ago...then went away for half a day...now its back   i wouldnt say its grinding....it almost sounds like a bunch of beer cans dragging on the road.....         it doesnt get worse when i brake or accelerate....but its fairly constant....it can get louder or softer at times(think popcorn popping)..... there is definitely nothing dragging on the ground...and i cant see anything hitting
