Difference Between 87 & 88-89 Vacuum Advance Units?

Aside from the different Mitsubishi part #s (87 is MD611360 & 88-89 is MD611769), is there any physical difference between the 87 & 88-89 vacuum advance units? The reason I ask is because I want to swap in my spare 87 unit into my 88 car to see if it resolves my hiccup/stumble problem when I get into boost....

Up for sale is a set of ARP head studs, used once. From what I've read, these can be re-used 2-3 times.
