How are you supposed to compress the rear calipers?

    The_Ginger_Stig
    By The_Ginger_Stig,
I started a brake change yesterday and got one side of the rear done nice, but when I got to the second side the piston was juuust out enough that I couldn't fit the new pads in. I tried compressing the piston with a standard tool but it didn't want to go in at all and knowing how hard finding some common parts are I wasn't about to embark on a caliper rebuild the day before I needed to get to work Is there anything specific about our brake systems that needs to be done to allow the piston

1989 Mitsubishi Starion Project Tampa, FL

1989 Mitsubishi Starion. It's a project for sure. The body is in very good shape, but could probably use new paint. The engine starts and runs, but it would need a tune up. The brakes don't work, so that would have to be addressed before driving. It would also come with some extra parts.     Pics can be viewed at the Craigslist add here https://tampa.craigslist.org/hil/pts/d/tampa-1989-mitsubishi-starion-project/7568995152.html   $1200 OBO
