F: 17x10 - R: 17x12 advice from the pros
Komeuppance replied to attack vector's topic in Rims, Suspension and Brake Mods
Haha I'm sure the "stance" guys know nothing of motorsports or of the old racing series. I've been to stanceworks(sad day) and various Nissan sites. They're all about the fad, looks, and copy paste onto their cars lol. There was talk of renting Laguna Seca for day... only to park on the track and take pictures lol, pretty sad. The +0 offset will be better in case you ever decide to set your car up for handling performance... lololol just teasing you, can't wait to see your setup. -Robert -

Nice!! http://home.comcast.net/~Komeuppance/HdrRain2.jpg This is a 225/50 8" -10 with camber plates set maxed out for as little camber as possible. If you compare the specs with 255/40 10" +0, the top of your tire will be the same as mine in the pic. -10 offset might have been better with what you were planning for Oni-camber. But +0 could be better because you can always add a spacer to dial it in perfect to just the way you want. -Robert -
I don't use any sealant or teflon. They are a tapered brass thread and seal just fine. -Robert

You can fire it up without the water pump, but only for a short amount of time. -Robert -

cranks very slow. Worried I spun a bearing.
Komeuppance replied to autotr8er2's topic in Virtual Mechanic
Doesn't sound to good if it can't be spun by hand. Like Dad said you're gonna have to inspect and test to eliminate what component is causing the problem. Remove all belts, just in case an accessory has locked up, though unlikely. Pull the valve cover and inspect, try turning the engine from the cam bolt just a bit. It sounds like its an auto transmission?? -Robert -
LSD will lock up both rear wheels and make them both spin under power, especially during a burnout. Are you sure the brake calipers are not sticking?? It is common for the rear calipers to stick on due to the ebrake mechanism. The new tank looks good. What is the silver coating, zinc?? -Robert

Use a ratchet and turn the engine over by hand. Remove the spark plugs, and try it that way too. -Robert -

87 quest engine not fully rotating
Komeuppance replied to bizniz's topic in Newbie Question and Answers
Welcome to the site!! Don't spin the engine backwards, the timing will jump. You should reset the timing now that its been reverse rotated, all you need to do is pull the valve cover. Download the factory service manual if you haven't already. The g54b is an interference engine, just barely, you'd have to have the timing seriously off before finding that out though. -Robert -

NikoFab Wilwood Big Brake Kit: Cancelled Not Enough Interest
Komeuppance replied to NikoFab's topic in Group Purchase Info
The 3kgt calipers are the same as z32 calipers, which already have a bracket designed for them. The cad dimensions are available at the Australian site. This will probably be the quickest option. As far as MC's, it hasn't been fully sorted out yet, but Matt was close. In Australia they use a Nissan Patrol MC, we could use it too but the fittings attach on the wrong side for LHD cars. New hardlines would not be too much work to make, but that is beyond the scope of a group buy kit I believe. Perhaps SS braided adapter lines... but that would look bulky and cumbersome. Regardless, I'm glad to see someone's taken an interest in a brake upgrade kit... going fast involves more than just a straight line lol. -Robert -
3" exhaust is another upgrade you should definitely make a priority. People have been using a DSM 1G Mas for quite a while, it's about the only "upgrade" you can do before stepping up to a 3" GM MAS and a MAFT to adjust your tune. -Robert

Welcome to the site!! That's a great collection of Mitsubishi's you have. Very glad to see you're saving a rare Starion too!! Definitely post as many pictures as you can. -Robert

Parting Red Conquest - Louvers, Mud Flaps, etc...
Komeuppance replied to gtxthunder's topic in Parts for sale
Please read and follow the for sale section rules. http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=9470 Replying to a "for sale" post: 1. Do not reply to someone's "for sale" post with an item you are selling - regardless if it is an item the person is selling or not. Instead, create your own "for sale" topic. "Under-cutting" another person's sale will not be tolerated. Action can and will be taken against those who repeatedly commit this action. -Robert -
That won't fit your 88 widebody, Don. -Robert

The front sump pick up tube provides more volume because of a larger I.D. But, 99% of builds won't notice the difference, it just depends on what pick up tube you have available. -Robert

Ohm test your coolant temp sensor. It should be less than 300ohms when the engine is fully warmed up (176F). -Robert

Looks good!! A tip in restoring you heater/fan controls, use brake fluid (not brake cleaner) on a paper towel to rub all the crud off. It'll make it brand new looking and shiny. -Robert

83 Starions and all year trucks used mid sump pickup tubes. 84-89 Starions used a front sump pick up tube. You have a mid sump style. -Robert
