  1. Lots of good advice on here. One thing that caught my attention in the original post, that seems to have gone unnoticed; You want to stay ahead of your friends S10 with an 88 t-coupe drivetrain. Well I don't want to start a debate in here, but I have owned a ford 2.3l-T and G54B. And even if you can meet your goal of reliable 400hp from the 54B by end of year, he has a couple things on you. He's got you hands down on parts diversity and cost. He can make more hp on less cash, and he can go about it in more ways than you. For instance his T5 or C4 can be made indestructible regarding the power out-put range we're talking about. He also has a s**t-load more options when it comes to diff and rear gear. His engine is over-square, MPI, and re-flashable right off the bat. He can go single or DOHC, iron or alluminum. Hell he can run a roots blower if he wants. Not to mention he weighs a load less. The one place your quest is going to have a huge advantage is at the launch. I've worked with a couple 2.3l-T S10's before, one was a highschool friends that we purpose built for bench racing, and traction is the issue. Pay close attention to your rear suspension components, and trans. Consider a trans swap to something with more rear gear choices, and lock-up. But whatever you do make sure you can snap your power to the ground. If you can do that you won't need nearly the same power to smoke him.
  2. Are you using the stock boost gauge? Because it's an electronic approximation of how much boost the ECU thinks we're getting. That BOV is venting all your boost to atmosphere, make a cover plate for the flange until you get a new BOV. Sorry to hear you got jacked. It happens to too many good sheds these days.
  3. Did you check your wastegate actuator for freedom of movement? Confirm the diaphragm isn't blown. I had a Chrysler 2.2T-2 bust a diaphragm, it stayed open even when the arm acted on it.
  4. It's a nice car. If anybody has the cash nearby I would snatch it up were I you. If it could have waited till the end of the month I would have flown down and brought it up just to hold onto until someones daily goes. These only weigh like 2300lbs. and you could make close to 300hp with that and a grand. Oh man, now I gotta go buy more parts. Good luck with the sale, if you feel like selling it even after you move PM me.
  5. What about an Audi S8 or the smaller S4? Or possibly a Saab but they are on the small side. I would go for gs300 over the SRT8 if it were me personally. A little more initial cost but then again that's the debate.
  6. Apparently they do, thanks for the correction.
  7. How many miles roughly?
  8. Go 28rs.... Yeah Potato! Or if cost is an issue a clipped and ported 14g spools real quick. The IHI turbo that was on my 2.3l when I bought it spooled like nobody's buisness. 15lbs. by 2250rpm, but then again the track length between the turbo and intake is less than 36 inches.
  9. As much as I love the Skyline it isn't a sedan... What's the budget? And how much work versus buy and bolt do you want to do? You can build a stroked chrysler 2.5l and put an a maserati 16V head on it. You can get easily 4-600hp out of that without getting too fancy and it fit's in such un assuming cars as a K-Body, H-Body, or something really light like a shadow. Or are we strictly RWD/AWD here?
  10. Agreed... I've never used that particular kit, but I don't think anyone can debate the benefits.
  11. Do you have any pics of the underside, engine bay, or rust areas? Your less than 2 hours from my old man.
  12. Sounds good, any rust issues? My old man likes the 2.2 T-1 in my lancer so much he's looking for an omni/glh or shadow/csx and he's willing to drive. I'm going to forward him the link if that's cool.
  13. I'm not sure I understand. The car does or doesn't have a problem in the bottom end? What year is the T2 (block & manifolds)? Which ECU is it running? How is does the water-to-air hold up without the heat exchanger, it's such a small motor but it's also hot where you are right? It's hotter than where I am for sure...lol If you could help clarify that would be awesome, you can post or PM me.
  14. Is this the little cylinder on the fire wall with vac ports and a pigtail? If so are the vac ports broken?
  15. I don't d**k around with bleed valves. I find they work or don't, nothing in between is acceptable. If you value your boost drop the extra coin.

  17. You can run 12lbs. safely stock on an 86' and up intercooled. You won't need any supporting mods to make it safe, however if you wanted to make the extra pounds count more do exhaust, then your intake pipes, then a bypass valve. Preferably in that order IMHO. F.Y.I. You can probably go as high as 14lbs. without hitting the fuel cut or needing anything, however the more you turn up that 12A the shorter it's lifespan.
  18. You, don't need to categorize me as a opponent to your point of view. I have in no way tried discredit your opinion, to the contrary I feel very strongly that your not just entitled to it, but that it is necessary. I don't want to live in a world where uniform consensus is the rule. I just wanted to say that we all need to be careful, especially in a time such as now when we can all agree that far too many lies have past for truth. Careful to not except any one viewpoint as if it were truth incarnate.
  19. Not trying to be heated man. Not trying to get into a debate either. It's Sunday and I'm tired. I in no way meant to imply that you lacked either supporting evidence or a valid basis for your viewpoint. My statement was directed at everyone who reads it, and was in reference to the necessity of listening to all viewpoints if you want your opinion to truly be valid. The link I posted is admittedly bias, a bias in fact that I do not personally support. Alternately I found the first link somewhat bias as well. However I learned something from both that will strengthen my own personal thoughts on the subject. And that is subject of my point.
  20. Ok, last comment and then I'll go back to being a Canadian. For people who enjoyed the first link, here is a second showing a different take on the concept. I encourage people to skip the commentary which I don't personally endorse. The factual segment begins at about 0:22.
  21. First of all I want to say; I frequent this site to discuss cars, my quest in particular. With that as my motivation as a rule I don't engage in geo-political debate in this forum. However I feel compelled to say two things here before I go about my business. 1) I personally believe that every man, woman, and child has the right to their own view point on any given issue. Furthermore, I would expect a person who feels strongly about an issue to share their viewpoint with others. 2) I would strongly encourage anyone who feels strongly about an issue to listen to every other available viewpoint on that subject. It is only through doing so that a person can find truth to support their ideals. If you feel strongly about this issue please have the respect to research it as thoroughly as possible, it is not only necessary to find empirical evidence to support your beliefs, but also your duty to anyone whome you may influence with your viewpoint.
