MightyMaxGS-T
Ok, I'm tired of breaking these trannies, I need to convert to something worthwhile and I am trying to stay away from going auto, it's not really something I want to do. What I am considering is to use the Mustang T5 tranny because my truck and these transmissions are cable clutch and I don't feel like converting. What I need to know is where can I go to get this adapter plate made on my car. I'd much rather use the T5 because if it breaks I can easily get a new one, plus it holds way more power than this stock Mighty Max tranny. Custom clutches and flywheels can be sourced rather easily, my issue right now is just to get the transmission to bolt up. Does anyone have any advice or info? Thanks in advance. Bill Hincher
I have had 2 years of hard work in the last 4 months, it looks like I can come back now. My family is getting back to 'normal' I got some questions about the T5 , there are 2 bolt patterns available, but the chevy bolt pattern seems limited to me, is it really needed? why not just stay with the ford wc? what about input shaft length in all the different models? which one do I go with? the Ford small block? I just picked it up and couldnt put it down, I do have another ( Sub ) project that I will give priority to, plus I am starting to get into drive shafts , sooooooooooooo bare with me http://www.billsautofab.com/images/T5narrowblock.JPGhttp://www.billsautofab.com/images/T5narrowblock1.JPG I have scrap bellhousings that didnt work out that I cut up and see how I can improve, so when I am done cutting them up, I can recycle them into new projectshttp://www.billsautofab.com/images/T5narrowblock2.JPGhttp://www.billsautofab.com/images/T5narrowblock3.JPG This ougth to be much easier then the previous builds. I am using an old R154 bellhousing because it was longer http://www.billsautofab.com/images/T5narrowblock4.JPG If I stay with the two lower trans mounts, I will have to change the lower skirthttp://www.billsautofab.com/images/T5narrowblock5.JPG I got some throw out bearing ideas that include raising the clutch fork arm about 2 incheshttp://www.billsautofab.com/images/T5narrowblock6.JPGhttp://www.billsautofab.com/images/T5narrowblock7.JPG
Bill Hincher
http://www.billsautofab.com/images/T5narrowblock7.jpgI removed the lower skirt because of something Matt Arudda said, ' why not leave the skirt out ?'http://www.billsautofab.com/images/T5narrowblock8.jpgI left the chevy bolt pattern in because I like multi purpose stuffhttp://www.billsautofab.com/images/T5narrowblock9.jpgI welded the trans plate on and will start the sides nexthttp://www.billsautofab.com/images/T5narrowblock10.jpghttp://www.billsautofab.com/images/T5narrowblock13.JPGhttp://www.billsautofab.com/images/T5narrowblock14.JPGhttp://www.billsautofab.com/images/T5narrowblock15.JPGhttp://www.billsautofab.com/images/T5narrowblock16.JPGhttp://www.billsautofab.com/images/T5narrowblock17.JPGhttp://www.billsautofab.com/images/T5narrowblock18.JPGhttp://www.billsautofab.com/images/T5narrowblock19.JPG Edited October 20, 2010 by Bill Hincher

MainstreaM
Bill, may I make a suggestion here. I would ditch the chevy bolt pattern and include the tremec pattern. You can buy off the shelf Tremec transmissions that will hold gobs of power, example the TKO series. That way if some one went with a world class and broke it, a tremec could be a bolt in affair. http://www.ttcautomotive.com/english/home/home.asp Kane Edited September 15, 2010 by MainstreaM

Funky Phil
I dont know if I like the idea of the bellhousing being open to debris. Glad to see you offering this. The T5 has already proven to be a nice transmission in this platform.

JDean
it would probably be best to make them for ford transmissions. i looked up the differences between a ford one and a 300zx one and the onlything i could find was that they have different input and output shafts Edited September 16, 2010 by JDean

I have about 2 more housings to develop before I build the wide block T 5, I get a bit overloaded because I build all the stuff I already have and then do the R&D on the new stuff at the same time, so I been buying some new machines to try and keep up with it all
