88 motor part out

The motor in my conquest blew, as some of you may know, and Im going with a 4g63. This means that I no longer need the block, head, injectors, throttle body, ecu, and a few other things. Im keeping the tranny, flywheel, motor mounts, clutch, turbo, and everything else that isn't replaced in the swap. I was told by the previous owner that the motor was built to these specs:

8:1 hyperu techtic pistons

tep non jet valve head and cam

ajusa multi layer head gasket

arp head studs

Let me know what you need and I'll let you know if its worth my time selling. Local pickup is very much prefered. The parts are located in San Luis Obispo, but I'll be in the Eastern San Fransico Bay Area during thanks giving so the parts could be brought there as well.

if your asking for some small 5 dollar part to be shipped to bum f*** nowhere maine, I'm going to say no. If you ask for interior, exterior, or anything else that is completely unrelated to the motor swap, I'm going to ignore it.

Parts were looking at here:

Block/crank

head

headstuds

injectors

throttle body

ecu

exhaust/intake manifold

If someone were to give me say,... 300 for the whole shebang, I'd be fine with that. ECU, motor, injectors, manifolds, all the stock piping, oil pan with new oem mitsu oil pan gasket (dealer told me it was one of 3 left in the US dealers stock, now 2 I guess).

Local pick up prefered. San Luis Obispo or SF BAY

sorry I've been laggin so hard on pictures, I haven't had a chance to work on the car until today, and I got out there and ripped everything appart, only to find I don't have the right size wrench for the cam gear. I'll go buy some mexican wrenches since I need some anyways and get that off so I can take a look at the head. The same metallic bits were found in the intake manifold that I found in the oil pan. Oil and all. I'd say there is likely to be damage to the head and block. Again, the crank is probably fine though. I have a feeling the whole cylinder 3 piston was powderized.

thanks jason, thats a good point,.... this block may be toast then. How far to people normally take these things out? I know dsm's don't ever go past .08" but .04" is still rather uncommon. thats ~1mm if Im not mistaken, so its not too bad, but if you need to shave off a decent amount because the piston blew, this thing might be going to the recycler anyways.

reason you don't reuse super old oem valve springs...

pistons got a hole in it

Is that an exhuast valve? It looks like one, but it doesn't have the marking that a turbo exhuast valve has. I'd say the problem wasn't springs it was the wrong NA valve failing under the heat.

mm

meh, I didn't build the motor so I wouldn't know. I don't know how much heat is generated from staying out of boost going 80 on the freeway.

I flipped my talon last night, so I'm not exactly in the mood to work on cars right now, sorry to anyone waiting, I have the ecu and injectors and other stuff out, and I pm'ed people wanting them, but they seemed to have lost interest. Haven't sold anything yet.

All the parts from the talon will be going into the conquest now, including the motor. A tragic tramatic way to save me a lot of money on this conquest project.

keeping your alternator or will your setup use the 4G63 alt? One of my quest's alternators just crapped out.

I think they are the same part,... but no I'll be using the 4g63 alternator. You could buy this conquest one off me if you want. The injectors, to my knowledge are stock, pm for pricing.

here are some pics, but these parts are the ones that have interest, which is why I took the pics in the first place...

now that I've got this thing fully appart, I can say the block looks like its not TOO bad, but would probably need to be machined, while the cylinder head looks much worse off. The pistons are,... well, the picture speaks for itself.

Intrested in the motor call 810-235-3023

I hope you read that I'm not shipping this complain,... I gave you a call because you could have got your cell back home and then moved out to cali or something, but don't get your hopes up if you actually live in the midwest.

you wanna sell me the Piston Oil Squirters? I need em' bad. =[

possibly, if there isn't any local interest in the block. Im curious though, what happened to yours? LOL

btw, So far I've only sold the throttle body assembly (everything above the intake manifold minus the injectors).

Things still for sale: 88 ecu, knock box, distributor, injectors, head (damaged), cam, arp headstuds, valve cover with fresh oem valve cover gasket (like 200 miles on it), I have a BRAND new oem oil pan gasket still in packaging, I was told it was the third to last one available from mitsu. It wasn't too expensive though, just if someone needs it, I have it. also a brand new mitsu distributor o-ring. A lot of other crap too.

  • 3 months later...

You guys totally failed on this thing, I didn't sell a single thing. Everything is still for sale but I'm awfully close to throwing everything away. The block is out and everything is off the car except the ecu, which is easier done than said. I'm hoping I can find someone who wants all of this stuff in one go. I don't plan on running arounding shipping every little peice everywhere, so try and buy more than one thing if your going to buy something. I have a lot of stuff.

if t doesn't sell soon, I'll just junk all this stuff.
