jpod999
Some of you may remember me, I used to post a lot on here a year and a half to two years ago. Back then, I didn't have a Starquest, but now I have 1/3 of one. Jason (boosted88tsi), myself, and one of our friends bought this '84 Starion ES over the summer with the intent of it becoming our communal drift vehicle. We got it home and immediately started the weight reduction. The car now lives with everything but the dash and the two front seats gone. We cut 2 coils off the springs all the way around, it now tucks all 4 tires (don't hate...it's not a daily driver. When we have the money for coilovers we'll get some). We also painted the car black with pink accents. Here's the car at it's first drift event. http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v364/82/92/1279562483/n1279562483_128888_8650.jpg http://photos-b.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v364/82/92/1279562483/n1279562483_128889_8957.jpg Oh, Herro http://photos-c.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v364/82/92/1279562483/n1279562483_128890_9220.jpg When we bought the car the clutch was almost fully gone. Now the clutch is COMPLETELY gone. You can have the car in gear, release the clutch pedal, and nothing happens. At all. Whoops. Last weekend we threw the FMIC/hardpipes that Jason had from his first SQ, so now it looks baller and has some more power. We're going to pick up a new diff and get it welded so that we have 100% lockup so that getting sideways is no problem. I'll get some good close-ups this weekend so everyone can observe its pure awesomeness.
BOOSTED88tsi
nice now i don't have to make a thread about it! jpod999
man i need to get back out there.. was there any 350zs out there rockin starion rims.. Yes you do, and no there weren't on Sunday. The front end of the car is really stiff now, the rear not so much. As you can see there is still a lot of body roll. We cut off 2 coils, I'll get some pictures of how the car sits this weekend, it looks hella good but I can't wait for coilovers. In the picture that Jason posted where we are working on the car, I am the one lying down with the Nike's, Jason has his head in the wheel well, and our co-owner is the one sitting on the tire. TD November is coming your way!!! 11/8-9! Don't miss it! the bigger pad is AWESOME! I HIT 3RD GEAR ON IT!!! YOU CAN TOO!!! I'M NOT A GOOD DRIFTER!!! smile.gif Details are same as always: $100 per day - pre registered $120 per day - not registered TO PRE REGISTER: send $41.60 (PER DAY) via paypal to ConePirate@aol.com ...Remember! you'll have to bring the other $60 to the track with you! Pre-Reg will close on Thursday 11/6 at 11:59PM!!! So, because the ThunderDrift site is down at the moment, I'll refresh your memory of our tech requirements now... JUST for good measure smile.gif (BTW, the new TD site is only DAYS away from going up) - All lugnuts must be present and tight - Batteries must be tied down with a stock or better system (this means NO duct tape, NO Bungee chords, and NO Zipties). If you have a relocated battery, we suggest you mount it in a marine-style plastic battery box. If you can't put it in a box, you MUST cover the positive terminal. - No Leaks! This means Engine Oil, Gearbox Oil, and Power Steering fluid. A well maintained P/S system won't boil over! - Seats/Belts must be stock or better. - Open-Top cars are allowed with stock or better roll protection - Helmets must be Snell rated M or SA. - Closed Toed shoes are mandatory - Sleeved shirts are mandatory (can be a short sleeved T-shirt, but no tank tops!) ALL THESE TECH REQUIREMENTS ARE ABSOLUTELY MANDATORY! Trust me guys, this is a super easy tech to pass. Ask anyone who auto-xes or races, they'll tell you there's a LOT more stuff that's usually on the list. Gates open at 7:00AM, drivers meeting will be at 9:00AM SHARP! NO EXCEPTIONS! No drivers meeting, no drifting. I suggest you show up early smile.gif Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have! How the heck did you break a half shaft?? I've never heard of that before. As for the serial number, Double Wow! There's a flatty here for sale, REAL cheap. jpod999
Does the Serial Number mean that it was the 202nd one built? This car has been sitting for the last couple of months because we are all low on funds to work on this thing. Especially me. Hopefully that will all change soon and this car can be up and running again.
