Right well with plenty happening in other parts of my life car has been and will continue to be neglected for a long while after this weekend.

So had a bit of a play today.

Had new caliper brackets made up as decided i wasnt happy with the last ones - and got royally screwed $$ wise on them which was not overly happy about :x Wont be going back there again!

But managed to get one side all fitted up today, and will try and get other one done tomorrow, so i can get some fluid in the system and try and get at least the handbrake working for next week when im gonna trailer the car down to Huntly to have the exhaust manifold done.

Few pics anyway

Well car is in having the cage done, seats and harnesses fitted, and lower windscreen rust repair.

I had to go out and check the seat position was ok, so snapped a couple of progress pics on my phone.

Well car is back and now caged :)

Seat mounts and harness mounts are done as well.

Had to cut out part of the floor on the drivers side, where the factory muffler hump was, to get the seat mounted low enough and far enough in.

Pics :)

How ya going to get in that beast? Crawling through the roll cage looks pretty tight.

Haha its actually not that bad but am definitely getting a quick release kit for the wheel as that makes things heaps easier :)

Well have been super busy with our new baby lately, havnt had much of a chance to get alot done on the car.

Have managed to buy a few bits and pieces though, bought an alloy radiator and 2 x 12"electric fans.

I went to the sheetmetal shop this morning and spent this afternoon making up a custom shroud for it which has worked out well.

Radiator is a 52mm thick item that should keep her nice and cool, and fits perfectly.

Also got some 16 gauge alloy sheeting to do the doortrims with, so thats a job for the rest of the week.

Other than that, am installing everything back into the engine bay including doing all the wiring so i can see where i want to run it, and making up brackets to mount things like PS pump reservoir, fuel pressure regulator, boost solenoid, oil breather can and a few others.

Once all this is done, will strip it all out again, then send car off for engine bay and interior paint. While its away, will install timing belt and get everything set and cleaned to go back in.

Have also cut up a spare dash to fit around the cage, but decided that there is a better way, so going to find another (hopefully grey, blue or black rather than burgundy) and cut it how i like it, and install my "hairdryer demister":)

Anyway will chuck a few pics up tomorrow

sooooooooo,... are you trying to break my record for most time spent down vs. money spent on the car?

Haha hell yeah! :) I think most people i know are gonna be amazed when mine finally goes again as its pretty much known to everyone as that car that looks like the back to the future car that is always in bits

Well switch panel is getting there, not quite how i want it there but a few more tweaks and itl be sweet.

Then its just mounting the ecu and relays and getting well stuck into the wiring.

Have cut all my battery and earth cables today too so will have them crimped tomorrow.

Have you thought about flocking the dash and gauge hood? Be an easy way to get rid of the maroon as well as get rid of a lot of windshield glare.

Yeah thats a pretty good idea. I was just using the burgundy dash as a mock up mainly to see where i needed to cut the holes to fit it around the cage but hadnt really considered recovering it. Might be a trip to the fabric shop today then - at least thats one place the mrs wont mind me spending money as she will spend far more there than i will haha

look into the spray on flocking too, donjer.com has some, but they don't ship international. A friend used one of there Nylon enhanced mini flocker kits to flock the dash in his GC8 Subaru.

Although you can cover the entire dash in one piece of faux suede, It's not all that easy to get it down nicely. I used a fabric called Texuede from www.yourautotrim.com to wrap the dash in my flatty

Here's a link to a pic of my dash

Well have had a small setback.

The guy doing my manifold, who for the meantime shall remain nameless, has for some reason done nothing about completing it in the last 5 weeks, since i paid for it.

When i picked the car up, after he used it to position everything right, he had done all of it except cutting the hole for, and welding on the wastegate pipe, welding on the wastegate flange, and completing the welding on the turbo mounting flange.

Since then ive had 5 weeks of excuses as to why it hadn't been finished. Luckily my father in law was going past his place yesterday, so i decided to just pick it up and get someeone else to finish it.

He has said he'l reimburse some of the money i paid, so i guess if that happens il just put it diwn to experience.

His work is impressive, and im stoked with what he has done, just a little disappointed he didnt finish it.

Anyways heres a few pics

Well been toiling away with lots of little jobs while our boy has been having his naps.

Had my exhaust manifold and turbo exhaust housing coated in hi temp coating, so look a heap better now and should keep alot more heat in.

Have got my intercooler mounted, radiator nearly mounted and most of the engine bay bits in place. Am running wires right left and centre now (and trying to keep them tidy).

Couple more brackets to do for the catch can etc and then once wiring is tidied up, everything comes out again and off she rolls for panel and paint.

Oh and i decided to go for larger front brakes too, so am getting wilwoods and 302mm rotors, along with a wilwood pedal box. Watch this space...
