mharrison
I bought this 87 conquest just days before it was to be sent to the scrapyard. It only had 85xxx miles on it. It had been sitting in a field for the last 12 years with no driver side window and the inside was mangled. The guy I bought it from said the motor was bad. The mice and squirels had made some serious nest in the engine bay and ate a large portion of the harness. http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc127/mharrisonquest/IMG_0661r.jpg http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc127/mharrisonquest/IMG_0662r.jpgTurns out this car was about to be smashed due to a bad fuel pump. I ran compression tests fuel pressure tests(thanks to this site) and the only problem was a bad fuel pump. I repaird the harness and installed a new o2.Upgraded ECM to an 88 and it ran perfect. I started tearing the car apart preparing it for paint. I removed every thing that I could, motor, body panels, glass, dash i tried to get as much as possible. After four months here is the progression. http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc127/mharrisonquest/IMG_0838r.jpghttp://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc127/mharrisonquest/IMG_0839r.jpghttp://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc127/mharrisonquest/IMG_0863r.jpghttp://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc127/mharrisonquest/IMG_0943r.jpghttp://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc127/mharrisonquest/IMG_0955r.jpgAfter a ton of beer a lot of sleepless night and many more to come here is the final paint work. Still have tons of interior work left but its a good start.http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc127/mharrisonquest/PICT0349r.jpghttp://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc127/mharrisonquest/PICT0351r.jpghttp://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc127/mharrisonquest/PICT0354r.jpg Thanks to everyone on this site it helped me get a long way in this project. 66 impala
well like u, i do everything myself. since i cant afford others to do it and it wouldnt be as fun. so i look at it as gaining knowledge, not losing money
mharrison
I've worked on cars my whole life and i'd say i've learned more on this project than probably any other project. Your right, its definatly not a loss of money, i've gotten a lot for my investment.
