Ryan_V
I supposed I could've done that, but I wanted to make sure I had proper torque in case there's anything wrong with the motor. I don't want the engine rebuilder saying I didn't torque it properly. Knowing what I know now. I don't foresee any issues with the motor. Ryan_V
I would say this sucker is ready to drop in. The engine leveler is worth it's weight in gold. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/202062/RDDPQ-111107004.jpg I also got the Stedabani short shifter put together. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/202062/UYGKV-111107001.jpg

Ryan_V
Not as hard as I thought it'd be! This was my first time stabbing the motor and trans together.http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/202062/MYCPE-100_1078.jpg Shortly after this it started raining on me!!!! http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/202062/DJXVA-100_1079.jpg
Ryan_V
I got the engine in. I mucked up the motor mount threads, and thanks to a great idea from Tim. I used a die to retap the threads. I found that a 10mm 1.25pitch die worked like a charm. I was able to tap the threads with the engine still in the car. So now, I can move forward!
Ryan_V
Getting there! All I have left to do now is alternator, radiator, finish tranny mount, bolt up the stedabani shifter, bleed brakes EDIT: forgot to set date on the camera! http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/202062/IMGP0558.JPG http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/202062/IMGP0555.JPG http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/202062/IMGP0556.JPG
Ryan_V
Still haven't had the time to finish it off. I need to rebuild a distributor for it and oil-prime it and that's it. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/202062/IMGP0569.JPG
Ryan_V
It's running! Not one leak, great oil pressure and it doesn't overheat at all! Man, it drives fabulous! The suspension and front end are super tight. The Stedabani shifter is perfect for this car too! I still need to bolt the sway bar on,bleed the steering box and a whole bunch of other little things before it's really ready for the street! http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/202062/IMGP0571.JPG My lil' helper Lukehttp://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/202062/IMGP0575.JPG
Ryan_V
So to recap this ordeal for you- 1. I bought this car 3 yrs ago and it's sat ever since. 2. I installed a supposed low mileage Jasper engine back in August 3. Little did I know the thrust bearing had started to fail 4. The car wouldn't go into gear because the entire crank would move forward when the clutch was depressed. Hence the thrust bearing failure. 5. I took the motor out and had it completely rebuilt. 6. Its now installed and has great oil pressure, runs smooth, doesn't overheat. It's been a long time coming for this car. Ryan I
