lol, yeah....gt35r, t5 swap with the internal gear swap etc...

daves car is 100 percent BAD,

Kens car is BAD as well, keeping in mind its to my knowledge still in the track break in faze.

Dont take my responses the wrong way, unlike other folks on here this is all about a "friendly" rivalry. Hopefully once my MPI car is completed and sorted out i will have something for that little v8 83 :)

Woot woot.. Join the club of turbo'ed v8 owners in their quests.... I'm starting on mine in a couple of weeks. I can't wait!

What do you have in the works?

5.3 Liter, forged internals, 6.0 liter heads, and a cam. Plus a big turbo.

Ford, Chevy, Mopar, etc......?

Chevy ls1 family

LM4/LM7 5.3l truck motor

LQ4/LQ7 6.0l truck motor

The truck engines differ that they have iron blocks, which are more durable for boost and less $$$$

Plus ls1 parts are interchangable

It's cool because chevy is repeating the family of engines as was in the Gen I small block, which lasted for about 40 years, and was previously the best small block in many people's opinion.

Got a couple parts in, so I took some pics. Schools out now so I can actually spend some time on the car.

I sent the pcm and harness to wait4meperformance.com. They eliminated the VATS (vehicle anti-theft system), rear o2's, egr, and threw in a tune. They also took out the unnessicary wires in the harness, and labled everything

Getting the car towed out to the shop where I'm doing the work tomorrow or the day after to pull out the 4cyl and maybe start the mock up.

was asked about mounts, so i figured id help you all out...

the mounts for a ls are basically flipped gen 1 sbc mounts. i used the engine half of the old sbc mounts as the crossmember half then the stock ls engine half and rubber and sent a bolt through the middle. i did have to make a plate to move the engine about 2 inches either forward to get the engine in the right spot. the position it's in places it perfectly between everything and i can keep the stock swaybar, steering, firewall, auto trans tunnel, and hood. this position also puts the trans mount in a place where i drilled a hole in the stock starion crossmember. the only problem with the steering is it is a royal pain for drivers side headers, which is why i had to make ugly ones. hope this helps.

Hey 240z, I used this motor mount half, which is a first gen small block chevy (first pic). Its the half that bolts to the engine, but I used it as the one that bolts to the chassis. I used the ls1's stock engine half of the motor mount. (second pic, just the engine half) I sent a bolt through the middle of the two, then i had to move it forward a couple inches with a steel plate to get it in the perfect spot.

Question , how much more does an LS1 weigh over the G54b ? Just trying to see how much more weight is added when this swap is done .

The ls1 weighs about 380lbs. Can't be that much over a g54. With t56, its less than 550lbs total.
