This thread is gonna serve a few purposes.

1. To get people stoked about PF

2. To keep a running tab written out of what needs to be done and gets done so that I don't forget or overlook anything

3. To get feedback about things I should check or do in addition to my list

4. To show off  :D

Here's where it is now...

Tainters are doing all the engine stuff. When we tore it down we were suprised to find it had been rebuilt .030 over with forged pistons. The head was a Clearwater head, but is a jet valve one. Not for long tho- JVE kit is on its way. The head is at the machine shop and is supposed to be done tomorrow.

The body is close. Front and rear bumpes still need a little finishing and some 1/4 patches need to be put in. If I could get this stupid welder to work I'll have it ready for a nice final coat of filler primer this weekend. After some wetsanding next week, it will be ready for sealer and paint the first weekend in June.

Then the fun begins- everything has to go back together...

That's some list, Mark. If anyone can GIT-R-DONE, it's definately you. :D

I'm currently working on an "exterior project" that will be done in time for Pigeon Forge. I've worked on it for a week now, and I'm almost 50% finished. I'll post some pics once I'm completely finished, but in the meantime, you all will have to suffer.

Well, here's one of the last pics I took of mine. Still need a front tire though. I think I'm just gonna get 2 new fronts, can get them cheaper than buying a another Dunlop sp sport 5000 :-s although tirerack has the Dunlop for 120, but the 225/50 is on back order

Derek: are you gonna put in your nonpop-up headlights in your car before PF?

Mark: expect me to be up one of these weekends to help get Kate's car back on the road, I can help with everything on that list.

Dave (Me): Get that 12a exhaust housing bored out to put that S16G on. Sorry everyone, but those body mods are going to have to wait. Germany set me WAY back.

My block is still at the machine shop..... I'm almost positive it won't be driveable by then. Running... probably..... driveable unlikely.... trust it to drive it to PF.... definatly not!!

Mark, not a problem there. One of my friends has a 1929 Ford Truck that his dad so graciously gave him. He wanted to enter it into the car show here, the Cache Valley Cruise-In'. Anyway, he had his truck entered, but decided like 3 days before it started that he didn't like the purple paint. He cleaned it all off, got a coat of black on it and let it dry for a bit. He then painted flames on it and clear coated the thing. By the time the show started his truck wasn't done so he had to drive it there with wet paint! The best part, his vehicle won the best paint job out of the almost 1200 cars that were there! Moral of this story, YOU CAN DO IT TOO!!!

Not sure, we'll see if I have the time, motivation, and money to make them right. I need a tire, and I'm working on piecing things together for a blow thru MAF setup

Thanks for all the compliments and pep talks.

Now I need some help with some stripped out locking lug nuts...

Anyway, things are going pretty well on it, but I can't get my stupid welder to work. I wanted to have the welding done by now so I could get the filler primer on this weekend, but its not looking too good now. I'mn gonna call a friend and see if I can borrow his welder again so I can stay on schedule.

It would also be nice if the sound deadner would show up. I want to wait to put the interior in til the car is painted, but it would be nice to have the deadner in so we can just hop right to it once the paint cures.

Basically I went to work... the car was in one piece. I come home from work and mark has been home since about 11 am with a sawzall in his hand and a grin on his face.

He is crazy. Good thing his work has a scrap metal bin where he can just 'throw it away' (it goes for recycling of course). It is a parts car and is so far gone, the only good parts are the drivetrain parts.

I like how he still has the drivers seat in the car. Why didn't he pull that with the rest of the interior?

Well, up until last night when the engine got pulled out, I was still driving it in and out of the garage when I needed to get another car in there to work on, so I left the seat in. Now that there's no engine, I'll be pulling it out tonight and puting it downstairs in the SQ parts room with the rest of my stuff.

And no, there is no crazy convertible project going on. The car ran great and was in good shape other than the rust and brakes. I don't have access to a trailer to haul the car away after its stripped so I will just be cutting it up and taking it to work in pieces, then throwing it out in our steel recycling bin. No parts are going to waste. In fact I will be keeping the front clip (frame from firewall forward) as it is suprisingly rust-free.

Oh, and before people get all testy about me parting this car, take this into consideration....

You could reach in thru the rocker panel outside the car and grab the bottom of the drivers seat. There were also numerous rust holes in other places- my favorite is the one that was in the roof.

I had to sit in it to turn the steering wheel as he pushed it with the Dakota into the back corner of the yard. The neighborhood kids all stood on the sidewalk and watched in awe.

Hey Burton is that the rear bumper cover you got from me a while back?

No, the one I got from you is in really good shape, and will be getting sprayed at the same time I paint the car. This bumper was the one that was all messed up, but since I wanted to mod the rear bumper I used the crappy one since I was gonna be doing alot of work on it anyway.

Why paint two bumpers you ask? Since this required alot of FG work and filler, I'm afraid once its painted that the lines won't be right or the bodywork may be too wavy. It looks pretty good to me now, but you really can't tell how smooth everything is til it has clear on it. That's why I'm doing two. I have a mint stock bumper all painted and ready to go on if this modded one looks like a**.
