heefner
some of the older programs like Tec I , II, win Tec and even some Haltech stuff is not windows XP compatible. I would buy the management stuff first, then by the computer
shift1313
for megasquirt ive heard of guys using 286 and 386's. you dont need one in the car, just to download to the ms unit, but if you have one in the car you have like 6 gauges on the screen real time. pretty cool. most stand alones dont require any great computer to run. id say a 486 running win 3.1 might do the trick for all of them but if some require win95 go with that. what ever system you go with will give you requirements. PDodson
I will be running the Hawk Engine management System, So I guess I could just get my crappy 386 Lappie fixed and use it
Technology
yeah, one of those old 45 lb "lap-tops" should do the trick! as long as you have windows 95, you should be fine, try looking in garbage cans and dumpsters for computers, they will most likely run the software! You can tune the Megasquirt with: Laptop with any Windows 98 and up (maybe even 95) Palm Pilot Megaview (DIY unit similar to the SDS tuning unit) Linux Mac running Virtual PC
