Can someone tell me if the very bottom MAF hose gets connected to anything.  If so can you tell me or show some pics of where it goes?  thanks

As in a vacuum hose?   If so, and it is for an 88/89, it goes to the factory boost solenoid.  It's for if you have the factory three port wastegate.  The boost solenoid controls the boost based on the rpm range (well for manual cars).   Most have removed the solenoid over the years and capped this port on the MAF.

ok.  I thought it might be a drain.  Is it ok to let it hang there at the bottom or do I need to try to find that nipple?  Thanks

oh...the entire air box.   When you said MAF, I assumed you meant the lid housing the MAF.    Yes, it is a drain and no, you don't need to find that nipple.   Never thought it was a good idea to have a drain into a framerail anyways.   Although, I have yet to see a SQ rot out there as a result of it.   There isn't enough moisture developed in the air box.

  • 1 month later...

Likely there for days of heavy rain where moisture may accumulate through the air intake as it is sucked into the air box when boost is low...air is moist and may condense inside.  Stops the box from rusting inside out if anything pools up.
