Scoobysruvenge
With everything fitting nicely it was time to take it all apart and get to work on painting the tank. The top had already been sand blasted and primed so I went to work on the rock guard.

Scoobysruvenge
The under coat was still almost perfect on the rest of the tank. Rather than just paint it I got some spray on bedliner and gave it 5 coats as it dried fast.

Scoobysruvenge
Sorry again newbie. Reading many of the posts here on the site and too much in one message seems to run together. I try to write and display as I go like a magazine short blurps and some pics yo go with. Is there not enough room on the server?

BC_99
Scooby, what they are saying is...you can make all of these replies and post all of these pictures in one post. for example. I had a hard time with s gas tank a couple of years ago too. The outside looked great... http://i601.photobucket.com/albums/tt93/BC_99/Gas%20tank%20Mess/20130217_160102_zps3b5a2d41.jpg but he inside looked like this.... http://i601.photobucket.com/albums/tt93/BC_99/Gas%20tank%20Mess/20130217_160055_zpsaffff8a6.jpg So, I took mine to a local radiator shop, where they dunked it in a vat for a few days and then sealed it from the inside. It now looks like this inside it... http://i601.photobucket.com/albums/tt93/BC_99/Gas%20tank%20Mess/20130308_174014_zpsd16a1cc3.jpg I painted the outside of my tank with wrinkle paint and undercoating... and put a new sending unit it there from Japan...now NLA btw. http://i601.photobucket.com/albums/tt93/BC_99/Gas%20tank%20Mess/20130315_165450_zpsa6c30ebc.jpg Now, you can see that you to can post multiple comments and pictures in one reply. It helps keep the site running smoothly by condensing everything. Cheers and keep up the good work! BC_99
Scoobysruvenge
Thanks. I tested pic plus text it and got it to work. I thought I would have major rust in the tank but after power washing I used an inspection mirror and a flashlight I was scocked at how little rust there was. There was more in the fill neck than in all of the tank.
Scoobysruvenge
I was prepared to cut a panel out of the bottom to sandblast and coat the inside. Lucky for me this was not necessary. Thanks for your experience, advice and sharing your pics of your tank.
