Small but wide

Recommended Posts

That's perfectly fine sir, my plan isn't to become a track slt like Convette, although I highly admire his work and wish to one day acquire his wide body kit. A rare find Indeed, to a certain extent but aren't our cars a rare find themselves ;) I'm not familiar with said Geo Tracker look from the 90's. My inspiration is Shakotan culture from good ol' rising sun country.

All you need is a set of wheels that the faces can be flipped to create lower offset. Anything that came with that low of offset is gonna cost big bucks. Any please do not go out and buy some custom steelies, those are meant to go on cars that some idiot rusted the hood/etc

I wasn't aware of the specification requirement that steel wheels would only fit on a car with an intentionally rusted body panel... so odd. You would think they would include that in the fitment guide ;)

 turd wheels belong on turd cars, nuff said

Don't you think that statement is a bit of a generalization? I mean nascar cars use custom offset steel wheels and there are plenty of very good quality steel wheel manufacturers so I can't see how you figure those are turds. And just because you or someone else doesn't like a style of car doesn't immediately devalue it (a turd). So even though I see what your trying to say, I have to disagree.

I personally cannot for the life of me get excited about most muscle cars, they just don't do anything for me... I think you can see where I'm going with that lol.

I'm gonna be running 15x10 front and 15x12 rear once I get my BCs dialed in. Not all wide steelies are gonna be your traditional circle-slot or D-slot faced wheel like you see on some rusted out vw. There are other designs that are much more appealing. Lemme know you're ideas! :)

In my head is just doesnt make sense to put wheels on a car that are heavier than the stock ones for the sake of style, but finding cheap 5 lug low offset wheels is hard. Ive just seen too many low budget stanced cars running custom steelies.

I do totally agree I would only ever go lighter then stock even when going forged and much larger then stock they still have to weight less.

Thank you for stating "era specific." Finally someone understands! This is an 80s Japanese sports car. And yet people think anything smaller than a 16 is not ok. 13s, 14s, and 15s dominated this time period. I'm running 14x10 in the rear (yes, it's a widebody) and it's perfect.

Exactly these are not wheels you can just go and buy, there are some styles brought back like the hayashi streets but the ones you really want are going to be hard to come by. Personally Id prefer a nice set of HRE 505s in 17s or anything like ferrari f40 wheels but I like that other guys on this site are into shakotan/true jdm style not the american washed stuff we have here. If I could have any set of wheels for the starion though itd have to be the ones on the left.

edit: good site for finding the exact ones to hunt down, yahoo jp auctions and a third party buyer service has the best selection of wheels
