D3UC3S
Hey guys, names Nathan and i jut picked up an 88 conquest. First one i have ever owned but not a newbie in the garage. Im from Atlanta but currently live in Woodstock. Will be lurking and learning as much as possible before getting too far into my car. Lots of plans for the car and so far i am loving it. Pros: New motor, head, trans 2 years ago with jet valve eliminated....New tires....3' downpipe to 2.5" straight pipe....clean carpet and decent interior 99% complete....nice stereo(minus ghetto tail subs)....MSD ignition....EGR delete Cons: Paint....small oil leak....Torn CV boots....messy wiring in engine....no AC....wipers come on whenever they feel like it....bushings shot pretty much everywhere....ant infestation....runs rich as hell....audio console is a joke....column switches and cover(turn signal/wiper) feel like they arent secure, just wiggle around http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/tt259/nathanschieber/null_zps83e8328b.jpg http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/tt259/nathanschieber/null_zps7d417eae.jpg http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/tt259/nathanschieber/null_zpsdb6f6ef4.jpg http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/tt259/nathanschieber/null_zps8920fa74.jpg http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/tt259/nathanschieber/null_zps520a91e7.jpg I know a couple of guys here from importatlanta and have been around there since '02. Technology
Sweep your driveway. Rich as hell is stock. Fix the oil leak first and then the CV boots. Your life will be so much happier.
D3UC3S
Lol not my driveway but thanks for the info. Plan on taking care of the oil leaks ASAP. I will tell my buddy you think his yard work skills suck. Haha. It's been raining for 3 weeks straight in GA. Pretty sure that's why his driveway looks crappy. D3UC3S
By the way, that glitch in posting or reading threads caused me to double post this thread. Sry bout that guys. Maybe a mod could hook me up and delete the other one? Thx SQC

D3UC3S
Thanks warrior! In GA they come from parking under a tree. They are wood ants so they don't bite, just annoying. Unfortunately I have been out of town all week so I haven't really had a chance to drive it. This next weekend I will drive it a good bit and then later start tearing into it to start fixing the issues

psu_Crash
Welcome Nathan! The problems you have are very common and usually not to hard to fix. Aside from the oil leak. Those can be a real pain. You already have seen the online FSM so just do as it says and you'll be A OK. Then when problems/questions come up we are here for you

Sprayed the grille and fog light covers black. http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/tt259/nathanschieber/null_zps77118746.jpg

D3UC3S
Did some work on the new tank and some general cleaning. Old under hood insulation was nasty so I removed it.http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/tt259/nathanschieber/null_zps34e9fb91.jpg http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/tt259/nathanschieber/null_zps35c2d783.jpg Cleaned up the rear shield of the tank and painted it. Also cleaned the top of the fuel pickup. Lower filter was toast. Also cleaned up the cone filter http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/tt259/nathanschieber/null_zps90cc0b75.jpg http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/tt259/nathanschieber/null_zpsb75c888f.jpg http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/tt259/nathanschieber/null_zps1d4b3ea9.jpg

importwarrior
might want to reconsider the removal of the heat shield between the hood and the metal plate in your pic. at least cut it to size of the metal shield.when it rains on my car hood i can see the water steam off of the hood. at least it will help keep the hood from getting too hot. i hope to get a new replacement soon. http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/tt259/nathanschieber/null_zps34e9fb91.jpg Edited September 30, 2013 by importwarrior
D3UC3S
The next morning I went out and did just that. The insulation was nice and clean under the metal so I cut it out with a razor knife and re installed behind the metal.

I don't think the tank was the problem. It wasn't gross but it wasn't sparkly clean. A thorough cleaning would be all it needs. Probably gonna put it back up for sale. http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/tt259/nathanschieber/null_zps5b41c310.jpg Here's the problem without a doubt. Pickup was bent, pinched, and the tip was cut off with no in tank screen. SMDH Thanks again Fanta! Had a great time catching up with you and going over my banana. I will see you Sunday! Look forward to meeting with all the SQ owners!
