You ever watch a snow plow go down the road? While you are experimenting with this, get something about the consistency of oil, put it in the pan and shove it around and see what happens. The pan holds 4 quarts and that's just up the level of that stock baffle. The baffle there is already good for stopping and cornering but if you want to increase capacity in the front you should use some spring loaded baffles to keep more of the oil in the sump most of the time like you'll see on other pans. Once its in the pan how do you keep it there and not restrict it from coming back in. This first one is the earlier crank scraper they sold, now they leave a piece across the back and for extra $$ they will put on a drop down baffle but you can do that yourself.

My pan holds more oil now. It took me the longest time to figure out why it was always low after an oil change. I Wonder if i could shim down the pick up tube to account for the thickness of the scraper and extra gasket?

After the next oil change, read the dipstick then BEND the arm on the upper tube by pushing it down further so the stock notch matches the correct oil level. Edited by Indiana

Why not add just a little more oil? You have the extra space from the pan being a bit lower. More oil wouldn't hurt. Besides your pan is lower but your oil pump pickup is not.

Well i do add more oil. Not really sure how much more it holds yet. Lowering the pickup would take full advantage of the extra capacity.

now what you need to do is take two oil pans and cut a long section out of the sump and weld it on to the pan your useing , in other words drop the oil pan by 1 to 1.5" measure befor and drop the pick up the same distance should raise the oil capasity by 2.5 or 3 qts

my 86 Mits MM held 8.5 qts of oil because of the huge oil cooler i use'd

oil removes heat better then coolant esp when your useing an oil cooler
