Robert_n_family Posted March 8, 2011 Report Share Posted March 8, 2011 From what I was told, the only difference and the way the ECU recogonizes the transmission in the car is a ground wire connected from the harness to the ecu mount. Caliber308 Posted March 9, 2011 Report Share Posted March 9, 2011 (edited) 1988 and 1989 Starquests used the same ECU: MD120197. Irregardless of the Transmission type: N=5-Spd, R=Auto. Or Trim packages: FX=LE model and FG=ESI-R.This information is located on the Vehicle Information Plate under the hood on the firewall.
