  1. Mitsubishi Garant...now thats funny! What about a Rancer Evorution?
  2. From what I was told, the only difference and the way the ECU recogonizes the transmission in the car is a ground wire connected from the harness to the ecu mount. Auto's have it, 5 speed's dont.
  3. Wonderful that you are doing good! I completely understand what you are going through, as if some remember my postings from last year when I found out, I also have a brain tumor in the third ventricle of my brain right where the csf flows. Mine is nowhere near the size yours was, currently between a pea and a grape to reference, and I hope daily that it never gets that large. You sound like you have everything under wraps, emotionally and all. If you ever need anything please dont hesitate to message me or call. I joined a great support group based at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, Nc and they have helped ease some of the worries I've had. Miracles happen every day don't they
  4. OK I finally got the pics as asked. Sorry again for the delay. It was overcast today so I went ahead and snapped a few more engine shots without the glare the others had. Also took one of the spare tire area. I've seen some quite nasty and this one is perfect. http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/vv236/Robertnfamily/SAM_1176.jpg http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/vv236/Robertnfamily/SAM_1173.jpg http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/vv236/Robertnfamily/SAM_1175.jpg http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/vv236/Robertnfamily/SAM_1174.jpg http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/vv236/Robertnfamily/SAM_1179.jpg http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/vv236/Robertnfamily/SAM_1177.jpg http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/vv236/Robertnfamily/SAM_1178.jpg In regards to all the crud in the hatch section of this fine automobile, I was asked by a friend to use my car to go to the home depot to get some "stuff". I didn't ask because I figured he would have common sense. Some of the "stuff" consisted of 2 hay bales. I've been picking hay out of my car for over half a year.
  5. Thanks for the kind words guys. Sorry but I wasn't able to snap the pics of the back seats and rear cargo area today as asked. I'll get them tomorrow I promise. Back seat area I'd rate a 9.8 out of 10 due to needing a nice cleaning and leather treatment to make it nice n soft, and the rear cargo area just needs cleaned so a 9 out of 10, but pics to come. Sorry again guys...
  6. I have a few VM threads recently I'll try to link up here so people can read through them. It's probably something simple since I've already gone through everything else and just dumped literally hundreds upon hundreds in her before I just got a new DD. Driveable, yes, untill it gets all nice and warm then it doesn't like to. However it acts different with the stock injectors than it does with the new delphi's. Go figure...Either way both sets of injectors come with the car. I didn't mention that before. I think the stock secondary is messed up. Not 100% sure though.
  7. Here's what I took. She brought the camera home for me during her lunch. I know I'm supposed to wash the car and detail and it all before I take pictures, but whatever. You can tell she's good and clean though on the inside under all the dirt . http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/vv236/Robertnfamily/SAM_1146.jpg http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/vv236/Robertnfamily/SAM_1145.jpg http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/vv236/Robertnfamily/Interior-1.jpg Here's a few of the engine bay http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/vv236/Robertnfamily/EngineInjectorSide.jpg http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/vv236/Robertnfamily/EngineTurboPic.jpg Here's a few of some of the build tags http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/vv236/Robertnfamily/BuildTags.jpg http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/vv236/Robertnfamily/CodeTags.jpg By the way, did I mention I had a ton of paperwork from previous owners that come with the car, including the original window sticker????? http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/vv236/Robertnfamily/TitlePic.jpg Also I forgot to mention stuff like I've gone through the pain in the bum job of replacing the rear deck speakers with decent one's from pioneer. Doors too. (Dashes can kma). Has aftermarket CD player but stereo controls on steering wheel as you can see in photo are perfect if you're into restoring to original. AC controls are great condition. Seats have no rips/tears/splits.
  8. Before I got my DD I have now I would have. Now I'm going to have to pass due to needing the cash for the house instead of a car. We just got a Camry for a steal that runs perfect so I'm set on the DD area for a spell. Thanks for the offer though and GLWS! Clean clean car!
  9. Rockauto has your front calipers, loaded with pads, for only $30 a side. I'm assuming you have a 5 lug TSI. Front rotors they have for like 15 bucks each and rears for 18 each. Dont forget the discount code either. Saves like 5% or something. Rockauto is FTW for our cars!
  10. I would love to see one of the few remaining ones. Truly a memorable experience as when they are gone, they will be gone. I watched a show about the private sector as Burton was saying. Seems the guy from Virgin has that mostly under wraps and is leading the way. Trying to make an "economy" space flight for the general public. I wonder what an economy flight would cost? Didn't that backstreet boy guy pay the russians like a mil or something to shoot him into space for a day?
  11. While we've done quite a bit of investigating into deep space in the recent past, the shuttle's have been quite a let down to the general public. While billions upon billions of dollars kept getting dumped into them, very little changed except testing instruments. Compare the shuttle Discovery with the exploded Challenger, with Atlantis, with any of them. It appears design hasn't changed in 30 years. Of course I have zero idea what I'm talking about and am only going on appearance, but I would think in 30 years changes in appearance would have been made. I wonder...if they invented a Veyron 30 years ago, would it be changed by now? Maybe they are retiring them to redo the fleet with newer models that can travel farther than just outside our immediate orbit. Who knows..
  12. Happy Bday dude. Met him at a meet last summer. Good people. Have a great day!
  13. Everyone always denies me my glory. R07 - Super Lisbon Maroon - Show me another! In case anyone questions it...it's been seen and verified recently by Collin Gibb. Also seen in the past by Shelby and owned by Penick000.
  14. Eric, AKA Lives4Speed lives in SC. Lots of guys live in Charlotte, NC just north of the borther, though.
  15. Thanks everyone. Collin Gibb helped an unmeasurable amount in person. Indiana, as always your assistance is awesome. Shelby, your help is always appreciated. Starfighterpilot, awesome explanations and assistance. I can't thank you enough. Technology, you made me order a CTS. Thats ok. Mine was probably old. It's getting figured out. She's driveable.
  16. Collin Gibb came by today to help get me going again. We tinkered with the timing for about 30 minutes before just redoing it completely. Valve cover off and reset to TDC and reinstalled distributor. Timing seems to be 100% better. Apparently I was over my head. Now it still isn't running great. Here's my issue, we think it's the injectors. 1st a little quick history. Last year new fuel pump and in tank filter, conical removed. Pulsator replaced because it was rusty bad by L4S. Last week before new injectors were installed I put on a new OEM mitsu fuel filter just down from the TB and blew that line clean with an air compressor. So here's whats happening. With the new Delphi's she's idling poorly and hesitating on initial acceleration. After it gets past that initial crap it runs like a champ. With the old OEM injectors it idles perfect and goes perfect with no hesitation on initial acceleration. Once I get past about half throttle it falls on it's face, spits and sputters. I would have tried to pair my 650 OEM with the 950 Delphi, but of course they aren't compatable. Ideas?
  17. Yea that's happened to a few items I've clicked on of his. Some warning saying my system needs to be scanned and will now be or something of the similar.
  18. Dude thanks! I'm having such serious noob moments today. For like 20 minutes I've tried to figure out how to make that starquestgarage fsm open up the other parts of it. I clicked on troubleshooting and then tried to go further from there...instead of backing up and going where I needed to go. Problem was I saved the link as the troubleshooting guide instead of the main page to the FSM. WOW...I really think I need a week away from this car before I go crazy. Thanks again!
  19. Wow really? Try to kick me when I'm down already? I don't get how that makes me slacking in the upkeep department? One quart lasts through almost two oil changes or about 5k miles. It takes us 6 months to go 3k miles. My ladys work does them for free so I get them done every 3k miles. Coolant was flushed and refilled last year. Remember last year when I had a little trans leak? Filter/gasket was changed and then I had them flush the entire system and put in new trans fluid. I have done brakes on her twice. This last time doing a master cylinder and new calipers too. Then to say I'm slacking very badly, cmon man, why...just cause my car isnt running good? This is the 2nd set of plugs she's had...first were one's the parts store told me were ok...2nd were one's u guys said to use. I'm sorry if it seems like you struck a nerve, but you did. What I know how to maintain, I do. What I don't know, I try to learn. Now back to my problems...Any ways I see a "thermovalve". I would have called it a ported vacuum switch back in the day. I see the CTS according to indy's wire color identification. What about those other two sensors...? The one with a single prong that is in the thermostat and the 1 under the thermostat with two yellow wires?
  20. No sir All vacuum lines have been checked and are good and the T-'s have all been replaced by the PO before I got her. I think he did all of that when the vacuum line GP was done. I have a question about the CTS. Which one is it? I see you saying it is the one with two wires, one black and one yellow striped. OK I see that one...it plugs straight down into my intake manifold. But...what is the one on my thermostat? Doesn't it measure the temperature of the coolant also? I'm confused on their differences...help. Should I just be replacing these since they're cheap anyways?
  21. OK back from the testing. Financially I just couldn't swing the timing light, but I was able to get the compression tester. She ran good when I reset the distributor, without even a single miss. As she warmed up it started to miss a tad. When I drove it to the parts store, 1.5 miles away, she really hesitated to go but once she did and boosted a little all problems seemed to stop until the RPM's went down again to idle'ish. So, short story long it runs better under boost. All testing was done as I was told...injector plugs removed...coil wire removed...all plugs removed...tested at WOT. I do not have the "So blue it scares you" spark that Professor Quest refers to. Mine is more "So Orange you want a slice of pumpkin pie with the occasional bluish purplish flash in there somewhat". I tested the resistance between my terminals on the ignition coil. FSM showed normal to be 1.12 to 1.38. Mine showed 1.7 so I'm going to assume that part is bad too. Coils are cheap, thank god. Going to get one of those now too... DRY after running to parts store - Cylinder #1 - 130 Lbs. #2 - 110 Lbs. #3 - 113 Lbs. #4 - 120 Lbs. Wet with about a tablespoon of oil Cylinder #1 - 147 Lbs. Cylinder #2 - 122 Lbs. Cylinder #3 - 127 Lbs. Cylinder #4 - 136 Lbs. So...how do those numbers sound? I have no idea WTH the dealer was doing. I want to say something but they did what they did for free because my lady works there. Idiots..
  22. OK got up bright and early and got a fresh start. Set the motor to TDC compression stroke. Removed cap and rotor and aligned up notch with distributor locking stud like you said shelby. As far as lining up, well kinda. With the notch and locking stud in alignment at say the 10 o'clock position, the stator poles are at a solid 11 o'clock. Going to set it how I had it according to my etch marks then go get a compression tester/timing light.
