Well I got the Motor in the car, well kind of. I still needed to modify the Firewall. This hasn't been easy it took me About 4 - 5 hours just figuring out how to run my bottom radiator hose. I had to grind down a bunch of stuff just to get a hose back in there. Anyways, here are some pics.http://i857.photobucket.com/albums/ab138/socjdqcer/IMAG0434.jpghttp://i857.photobucket.com/albums/ab138/socjdqcer/IMAG0441.jpghttp://i857.photobucket.com/albums/ab138/socjdqcer/IMAG0439.jpg

i swapped a 4G63 into my Ram50, and have been in contact with Bill Hincher numerous times. i was going to ask you what you were going to do about the cooling setup. did you move the engine forward? is the Tstat housing still on the back of the head? instead of running the stock setup, on my truck, i used a stock D50 waterpump, ground the webbing down to clear the timing belt tensioner, and ran the stock truck's waterpipe instead of the 4G63's. the truck's waterpipe will hook up to heatercore, and the outlet from the heatercore can be ran to the throttlebody. instead of moving my engine forward, i relocated the t-stat housing to the front with a Jay Racing kit(modified to clear the waterpump pulley). if you have any questions on my setup, feel free to ask here or in a PM.

also, did i mention i'm putting a T56 6 speed in my truck with one of Bill's Billhousings? :D :D :D

Ok, so I just finished cutting out the fire wall and this is behind it

Im guessing all this crap has to come out? What exactly is it? Is it for the air vents in the car

That would be the heater core.

and yeah, im assuming the entire dash has to come out to get the heatercore out. if its anything like mine, it takes up most of the space behind the dash. on the bright side, having the dash out will make getting power to the wiring harness easier- if youre modifying a DSM engine harness that is.

So I go to drop the motor and something is wrong. My motor mounts are not lining up with the frame mounts! Im using stock Conquest Frame Mounts and 2 Left ( passenger Motor Mounts )This is driving me Nuts! Right now the Motor mounts are too wide by about a inch!

I wonder if it has anything to do with this: When I went to bolt the Motor mounts to the block the wholes in the mount were a bit off, and the wholes didnt line up, so I drilled them out (bigger) to make the wholes line up so I could get the Bolts though. First off, I thought the motor mounts were a exact fit, so why were the wholes off a little. Second I guess I have to keep messing with them until I can make everything fit. This is a huge set back as me and my wife are in the middle of Packing our whole house because we are moving from Chicago-Land area to Florida, we Move less than a week, I have to get this motor in!

Yeah, Well I have been also told that 2 drivers side starquest mounts are the same as the Mighty Max/d50 mounts. I guess they were wrong

its two right side engine mounts.... which usually means passengers side

right I know, Right means passenger and Left means driverside. However, when they did the write up on projectzerog they did it as if you were looking under the hood, not as if you were in the drivers seat. If you were to take a passenger side mount and put it up to the 4g63 you would see thats not the right one, its way too tall.

i'm not sure how the SQ mounts mount to the frame, but i can tell you for sure that my stock 2.0L mounts from my truck bolted right up to the 4G63. if it comes down to it and you need to get new ones, a new pair of those should work.

Ok, so the D50 mounts bolt to the 4g63, but the problem is the 4G63 is wider than the original Starquest motor! I wish someone would have made that note on Projectzerog.com! Well Bill had a write up on anothers build thread about the problem with the d50 mounts, and thats how I found out about them being too wide!

:(

Well, you can make a plate that will bolt to the cross member. Then drill two holes in the plate for the motor mounts.

well use just the passenger side mount, then measure the drivers side ( how far its off) and measure the total distannce across the mounting holes in the engine cradle then let me know and we will see what we can come up with

the engine is already too high in the mounts, adding a spacer even makes it higher

woahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that is a star quest, I was thinking you were working on a D 50 truck, no problem man, I will set you up with some mounts

Well Its bolted in. I probably wont keep it like this, I just need to get it in there for the trip to Florida. Either way I am extremely happy to take it off of the Engine lift!
