Guest
Yeah, so I had this 87 speed tranny. And I had an idea. The idea was to "fix it." Hummed a little, was the front bearing. You know how sometimes having an idea is not such a "good idea?" Well, here's pics to discourage other's who have "ideas" like me! http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk226/80sriceman/Mobile%20Uploads/Photo0411.jpg I'ts at this point that I realized, "oh crap!"http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk226/80sriceman/Mobile%20Uploads/Photo0413.jpg and at this point, the 5 speed is crap!http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk226/80sriceman/Mobile%20Uploads/Photo0412.jpg So the lesson is, if it aint broke, don't try to fix it and if it is broke, leave to the experts to fix it! ucw458
What's with all the hammers? Way to go clarkson. You could have brought it to my house where I have a few of the proper tools including a puller to get the front bearing out.
dmyers151
I can see your problem already. You used too many small hammers. One large hammer would have fixed it more better.

TopDawg_43
What's with all the hammers? HAMMER:Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent to the object we are trying to hit usually smashing the thumb that is holding the object that you are trying to pound into whatever it is that you are working on effectively eliminating the need for manicure care on that thumbnail for weeks. Crap me! I got so disappointed I recycled the WHOLE THING!! The synchros were absolutely in good shape, no wear!! The only bad thing was the stupid front bearing!! It didn't even occur to me to ask Jeff for help. Hey, I do have a perfect '88 I wanted to service as well.
