im my case it wasnt a planned thing, more about me being a cheapo.

i had 4 205s laying around so i used what i had on hand. once those get worn down i am gonna get tires that fit the rim better. but being a 5in wide wheel i need like a 185 maybe even a 155 out front. my car is NOT designed to be in the twisties.

Mustarion?

EDIT: To keep with the theme of this thread, 245's on an 8" rim looks like this:

The Impala in question is overdoing it a little, but ballooning can look good also.

285s on 9" rims. 225s up front on 6.5" rims.

wow, i really pictured the BF 285s to be much wider looking then that. mine are only 235s out back on a 8.5 rim. i really wished i would have went wider out back on the tire.

seeing that sweet muscle car reminds me why i made mine look the way it does.

yeah, those tires are wide, but, on the car, the don't look it. But, they are 11.2" wide. Their biggest thing is that they are tall (about 30" tall). But, BFG no longer makes a 285/70/15, so...oh well...haha. And, really, on the Charger, my dad could run a wider tire, but, he needs about half a size shorter (like a 285/65) since they do rub the front screw for the wheelwell molding when you hit large bumps). But, he could probably do a 305 in width without having any clearance issues.

But, let me just say this, they are taller and wider than the tires on my SS/T truck...which are 275/60/17s...lol

i believe mine are 235/60/15s, when the time comes for new rears i wanna go with the 285/60 if they have it avalible.

mine are pretty well matched in size to the stock wheels overall.

not sure how they perform on your car, but i LOVE these tires at the track. our local track preps the track VERY good, normally i drive around the warm up boxes and those tires stick like no other, for street tires. they seem to wear really good too.

i sooo wish they had them in 16in in raised white letters.

yeah...the issue we've had, however, is, the rear 285/70s are old (mid 90s), and, we've blown belts in 3 of them. Problem is, we can't find anymore...so...we have a 275/60 on there now...which look tiny in comparison.

and, a 285/60, do you know thats a 29.5" tall tire? I don't think that would fit. My dad's Charger has huge wheelwells, and 285/70s, which are a 1/2" taller, hardly fit. But, a 245/50/16, which is a little taller than the stock SHP tire, is only 25.5" tall.

So...somewhere, you're going to have to find 4" total...2" on each side, of wheel well room. Do we have that? Width you may be okay, though.

My friend has 275's on 7 inch rims, there is so much ballooning you have to dial in counter steer when taking a slight bend at 10 below the posted speed, and the car has an open diff in it.

wow...that offset is way wrong.

And, I don't know why they would look like that on an 8" rim. The 285/70s I posted above were on 8" rims for awhile and they looked just about like they do in the picture.

Sure that isn't a 7"?

You also need to have the right tires for this "ballooning" the pic I posted, when I first walked by the car I though the tires were flat. They were just some cheap throw ones. Looks bad on that car.

The quest posted earlier looks very good.

mine didnt end up that way on purpose, i was just cheap and had 4 205s already laying around with good tread. so i figured that would make two good sets of fronts but they were just a little too wide. i have already gone thru one set of the tires cause my car needed a alignment very bad, since i got that done the set on there now is wearing nice and even and i am getting a lot more miles out of them.

once it comes time to replace those they wont look like that anymore cause they will have a correct size tire on them.
